 Re: 9x9 to a 10x8 prop
If the ratio is anything close to 1.5:1 you should be able to turn it. Get access to see the top pulley. Turn the prop 1 turn and see how many revolutions you get on the top pulley.

I ran a 10x8 on a 12 hp and it did well. But not sure about the different gear ratio.

 Re: 9x9 to a 10x8 prop
When you say RPM issue what do you mean. A buddy just bought a 10 hp dixie, with a broken belt. We fixed that, then the shaft broke so a new shaft was machined out of T1. Now we got it going and it also has a 9x9 prop. But can't get anything more than idle out of the motor when in the water with one person and no battery on a 14x40 flat john boat. It revs up find out of water but want once you set it down. Also what's the gear ratio suppose to be on the 10 hp. I appreciate any help. My 12 hp copperhead will shove that boat 22 mph with the same load. So it's hard to believe that's all the motor can do is lug along at idle.
