There are alot less broken blocks with longer rods than there are with stock rods

Im going to leave this conversation on this note! I will continue to wing my motor up to 6K RPMS and wont worry one bit that a connecting rod will fail!!! Have a nice day!

The answer is u should have more uumph. Grunt torq out of the stock rod versus the longer rod. The longer rod was designed for more top end rpms. The problem is that with a boat and all the surface frictions and weight and other factors that the longer rods make it harder to get the rpms up to where the rod was built and designed to run at. That's why the stock rod length has more torq and makes for more of a healthy stronger motor allowing u to get to those desired rpms easier

Post Re: Gtr 3 blade
Rod ratio. 1.5 grunt torq- 1.8 rpms top end Stock rod 1.5somth Longer rod is 1.624somth. This is why u notice better gains with a stock rod getting to the 5000 rpm range Now the stock rod length in a billet rod would be a big help but would still give u the steep rod angle that some have said causes for the blocks to stretch and crack. I thing a billet back cover would probaly be a big improvement

Would the 3 blade perform better than a 2 blade on a 2011 gtr that is stock? I know people are saying the 3 blades are nice but are they running them on the newer gtrs? On my 18x48 with a brand new 2 blade I'm seeing 28 with a stock GTR. Just wondering if a 3 blade would match it or slow me done some. Cause I'm getting pretty bad tiller torque

Post Re: Gtr 3 blade
Results: All deep water - Trim bolt in top hole. Water temp was about 60°.

With 2 blade - best speed alone in boat was 29. This was just the boat and 12 gallons of gas up front. Hole shot sucked and prop cavitated. Best RPM without speed loss was about 4100. With 2 people, speed was 24 still running around 4100 RPM. With 3 people, speed was 21 and RPM was 3850. 4 people and it would not plane out unless trim tucked all the way under and it took forever to plane.

With new 10p 3-blade - best speed alone was still 29. There were a few fairly large waves and heavy wind that if were calm, I might have gotten a higher reading. Hole shot was phenomenal. Boat jumped on plane almost instantly. I could trim up more at WOT without loss of speed and RPM best performance was 4250. I noticed that the boat rode (lifted) higher out of the water. Makes sense as there was more prop blades in the water and more cup in the ends of the blade to help with lift. With 2 people - speed was still 29 and no difference in hole shot and boat stayed lifted. About half the boat was in the water. 3 people - speed was 25, hole shot was still superb, not quite as much lift and best rpm was 3900. 4 people - This is where I was most impressed with the 3 blade. Hole shot was about like it was with the 2 blade and one person. There was no cavitation, boat came up to plane in about 30 feet. Top speed was 22 and best RPM was 3750.

The torque on the tiller handle was just about non-existent. Cornering was much better as the prop would not slip in a tight turn. Reverse pull was 3 times better than the 2 blade. Overall I think the 3 blade is a keeper. It really shines on hole shot and being able to carry a load much better than the 2 blade. I am impress it kept my top end speed the same and I attribute that to it being able to lift my boat higher thus reducing drag. I like that I can run faster with a load and especially that my boat will now plane off with 4 people and run 22.

Tested it in very heavy vegetation and it went through it fine.

My boat is a 1752 tapered chine with 7 hull stringers, 3/16" hull, .125 everywhere else. It has a 5' front deck, 12 gallon tank under front deck. It has a 7' rod box and a storage box on the left side and a storage box on the right just behind the front deck. I also have a storage box at the right rear where I sit to drive. The floor is also skinned. It is a pointed bow with a hybrid mod V.

The engine is a 2012 35GTR with a Stage 1 from Calen.

Hope this helps some of ya'll that are thinking about getting the new 3 blade. Only thing I don't like about it is that it is not polished at all. Looks like it just came out of the sand cast. I would imagine if it were polished, the efficiency might be a tad bit better as it would not have the rough surface on the blades to cause a little drag.

Curl

For a heavy ass boat and a load, this prop shines in deep water. The added bonus was the hole shot, quick plane, and good veggies push through.

Don't know where you are but if you come to Millwood during the 1st season, you can try mine out.
