Guys I need your opinion? In veg i know with a tiller, you can go up down ,left right, to get unstuck. How hard is it with a console and steering, to get unstuck? Always had Tiller. I am running a Mud Motor.

I've had 2 tiller steer mm' sand just made the switch to a wheel. I can tell you that I'm not going back to a tiller unless I have to. The pros outweigh the cons in my eyes.

It is a little tougher to get unstuck but I think it's well worth it.

Boat size is a major player in that. I wouldn't have a wheel console in anything smaller than an 1860.... 1854 would be pushing it and it wouldn't have side gutters...

Having driven a 20' Go-Devil with a tiller, and then the same boat afterwards with a steering wheel, I vote wheel. On a boat smaller than 17', however, I would probably lean more towards a tiller. That's just my opinion though.

I have a 18x48 and jut converted to Center Console. I will always have a steering wheel for now on. I thought my boat would be to narrow for the console but I gave it a try and I love it. I have cable steering instead of hydraulic for now and its not bad at all with my pro drive.

Stick steering all day long and twice on Sunday!! All the comfort of a CC but you don't loose maneuverability when u are in the sticky.

Real men drive a tiller

With that being said, if I hunted deep open water all the time... I might consider a console

I have a console now and has 3 tillers before it and way I look at it is know it's shortcomings to a tiller. On plane they both go the exact same places, getting out nasty shit tiller prevails. So in console try not to stop in terrible shit.

We have deep open water here, but if you run it WOT with an outboard, you will rip it off the transom.

We make 22 miles one way trips sometimes to hunt and I guarantee you will see why I got a console. It can't be beat..

I make long runs but its not really an issue. I like a tiller. But I will admit that I hate the twist throttle on my PD. The lever I had on my mb and gdsd was much more comfortable.

We made a 97 mile round trip on the river in Arkie. Was a breeze with a console.

Just ran mine in the stumps pretty heavy this evening and it was some kind of nice!!!!

Set your boat up right and drive with no hands. Consistently make 7-8 mile runs and never touch the handle. Just shift my weight in the boat to turn.

ive been considering swapping to a console for some of the long runs i make sometimes but being as we hunt alot from the boat the console takes up a spot for a hunter. seems as if you loose quite a bit of turning with a console as well, and loose ability to get out of sticky situations. so there is several downfalls to having a console that i can see.
