 Meet Mack
Finally found a good pup. I wanted a boykin pretty bad but i couldnt wrap my head around $1000 for a pup just yet. Not for my first duck dog. Might kick myself for it later when he's 100#'s of puppy but right now he's doing pretty good. I've had him a little over a week and he knows his name, no, and sit fairly well. Loves to retrieve already. Not real sure what to think about the water just yet. Took him out in the boat last weekend and he would jump in and swim and was cool with it but he was in the boat and tripped over his big ass feet and fell over the side while I was putting the dog ladder up. Needless to say he didnt wanna play much after that. Gonna take him out this weekend and see if i can get him playing in the water again.

 Re: Meet Mack
Don't force him in the water. Start shallow near the bank and make it fun. You have plenty of time. No need to rush him on anything. By next season you will have a duck dog. Patience!

 Re: Meet Mack
I wasn't forcing him lol. I just backed up and he would jump off the hunt deck and seemed like he was having fun. But he didnt like falling in at all. He's been real hot natured so the cold water wasn't bothering him a bit.

 Re: Meet Mack
Thanks guys. He's definitely a looker. I just hope he doesn't go nuts in a few months. I'm not planning on using him as a stud dog. Does it hurt anything if you get em cut? I've heard both ways

 Re: Meet Mack
Haha well he started out on his dog ladder. His first jump in was over knee deep on me.

 Re: Meet Mack
All the females ive ever had were hard headed. Again I've only had him for a little while but he seems to pretty much go with the flow and picks up on stuff pretty quick.

 Re: Meet Mack
Decided since it was a nice warm day I'd take Mack out for the last afternoon. Didnt really expect him to do anything but keep me company but i knocked a few down and the little shit actually went and got em! I'm pretty pumped! He isn't even 5 months old yet. And just to add to the sweet afternoon his first retrieve was a black duck! Couldn't be more proud!
