Re: Paying for a new Mud Boat - Apparently I'm out of my League
PD you are right on......especially for a rig you are trying to work out of!!! lets back up a year.....could not find anybody talking about the negative moded motors could we. JD got blackballed for telln his story and when i had a stage 1 the only problems i had was a leaking case that i fixed my self. EVT told everyone I talk to that they have lots of stage 3 that are yearsold and have not problems..bla bla bla. Now all them fancy stage 3s are for sale with abot...08 hrs on them .....lol... Now when me and other started telling people the truth everyone is agreing that a modded motor is bad ass it just dont last long. I will have another but it will be for play only..with a billit block hopefully coastal.......i split the rig with my pops or i would not have one....BBBBBIIIIIIIOOOOOOTTTTTTCCCCCCHHHHH!! but for the record i could have had 2 rigs for what i have dumped into this bad sled. See u at Wally. Later

Petrel, I'm down in Charlottesville and used a credit union for my last two boats. Both were custom built. Had the check to the builder no problem. Did them as car loans basically. 5year low interest.

If u aint in debt you dont have shit thats the american way. I moved to Wisconsin from Wyoming we live right on the Mississippi my wife was still out west I never even told her I bought a mud rig she showed up 3 weeks later and I had one in the garage. Its easier to ask forgivness then beg for permission. Just go buy and mod the shit out of it.

Is Regions Bank still right across from PD? If they bank there and that's who you're buying the rig from (or GT down the street) then maybe their branch and yours can work together.. Then again all banks are da devil and should be destroyed before they destroy us..

Re: Paying for a new Mud Boat - Apparently I'm out of my League
Yep that’s what I’m saying. paying cash is the only way to go.
FYI...DAD put in the 6500 for the motor and I put in 12,300. If dad would not have put his money in I would have had to by a smaller rig.
Don’t try the “daddy paying” gig to make a dumb ass decision look better. I’m not a spoiled daddies boy, I pay my way just like everyone else should. I have worked in the family business for 10 years to where I started by cleaning bathrooms at night. I have worked my way up the right way and smart way.
Ask around we are not hurting for anything and keeping our passions within due bounds as well as paying cash is what got us to this point. I run a multi million dollar manufacturing shop and the only thing we finance is large capital improvements. Anything over $250K.
I’m don't want to bash anybody or be hard on the younger member here, but if everyone who has posted up ignorant comments about not being able to pay cash is for real and not joking around................well......... it explains why we have so many company bail outs, foreclosed homes, and repo business are running 90 to nothing.
If you can make the monthly note on a loan you can save up the money in your interest earning bank account to buy your rig!!!!!
It took me over 3 years to save enough for my portion of the rig, and I cut corners everywhere I could on the price. Even bought a trailer for a 16ft boat and put a 20’ on it….you think Crews trailer looks trashy you ant seen crap….. BUT it did the job and carried my rig from LA to west TX (every other weekend…..LOL) for over a year.
My boat is not a show piece but it gets the job done and that’s why I need. IMO many of the rigs on here are to “keep up with the Joneses” rigs and people really don’t need a fancy 1855 Aucoin custom, PD 36 HTT HFPR EVT Stage 69, custom camo, shag carpet, surround system rig.
Enough of the rant, but you young guys watch out, keep your passions within due bounds, and save your money.

I'll only end up paying 200$ in interest on my loan for my boat. But your right, I should have just waited 2 years and and missed 2 duck seaons and been boatless so I could save up and pay cash for it. I'm such an idiot.

You could steal a motor from PD or GT and blame it on your mother say she did it her love for will not allow her to turn you in. that might just be the ticket.

Re: Paying for a new Mud Boat - Apparently I'm out of my League
Who really cares? Some guys finance their boat, some don't. The guy who posted this thread is obviously someone who wants to finance his. He is trying to find out the best route to go in doing so. So help him or don't. But he wasn't askin for financial advice, just how to go about getting a loan.
I agree that financing toys is a bad idea. But I did it myself. I got a 3 yr note and paid it off in 6 months. I did it because I wanted a new boat right then, I didn't want to wait 6 months. I also had the cash to pay for it at the time, but decided I'd rather have my bank account full over the next six months than empty it out and hope nothing bad happened. If something had happened I would have made the 200 dollar payment instead of paying 1000 bucks a month like I did.
Just my .02. Carry on
Oh, I financed mine at citifinancial with a high interest unsecured personal loan. I had a hard time finding a bank that would loan me such a small amount towards a boat. I only borrowed 7 grand. I took the hit on the interest rate because I knew I would be able to pay it off quickly. Also wanted to finance to help build credit. I want to say it cost me and extra 5-600 bucks to do it that way, with financing charges and everything. Something I thought about and was willing to accept.

Re: Paying for a new Mud Boat - Apparently I'm out of my League
My toys aren't the newest and they may not be shiny, but they are paid for. 1987 4 wheeler, 1997 Jeep, 1994 ski boat and my 2008 Prodrive / Phowler. That is the one newer toy I have and it's paid for.
I got tired of paying notes for stuff a long time ago. It kills me to still have a house note.

Re: Paying for a new Mud Boat - Apparently I'm out of my League
We sure do have a lot of people that know the right way to do things around here. The problem is that the right way is not the same for everyone. Each person's situation is different and unique. Advice should be based on that person's individual situation and usually should only be given when asked for.
In my case, I only plan on living a short time. So I'm gonna try to finance my next strip club adventure and just make sure I have plenty of life insurance so I don't leave the wife and kids stuck with the bill.

I'm more concerned with people spending 12,000 on just a jonboat hull and trailer. WTF??!! I can understand if it comes w/ a stripper pole, a few gorgeous whores, a columbian mule the fetches uncut blow from Mr Escobar, and a stocked kegerator but....it's nothin but a floating pile of welded aluminum. Again...I'm in the wrong effing business

I been thankin' 'bout this thread alot. Altho BrinkleyDawg is rite .... you should not borrow money against toys ... fo somefolks ... it's thays only options. I cain't never remember a time in mines life .... I ain't had a boat sittin' out in the front yard. Mines Daddy, GrandDaddy, and all mines Uncles always kepted boats of some kind. When I started purchasein' boats .... I had to borrow moneys from the bank to git what I wanted .... I always wanted somethin' alittle mo than what I could afford. NOTE the word ... Little ... I thank ifin' you can keep yore payment down to what is a sho-nuff amount that you can sell a few fish, mow a few yards, rake a few leaves ifin' you git in a bind to makes the payment .... you will be awrite !!! When mines wife and I first gots married .... she was upside down in a car and I told her to let it go back but I was gonna keep the Ranger BassBoat 'cause thay was only 3 mo payments on it !!!! One of the best desions we made in out early marriage !!!! Point bein' ~ An old black mans told me one time ..... git what you want ..... just don't let it git up on the table with you !!!!!

I must be dumb for financing a boat that I wanted, that I can pay off in less than a year without breaking my bank account, and building a better credit profile at the same time. Oh well, I'm happy.

Re: Paying for a new Mud Boat - Apparently I'm out of my League
I tell my wife we are poor everyday. I did just order a "How to get rich quick flipping houses" package off a late night infomercial, so hopefully I will be rich like everyone else on here very soon. Although the last one I ordered, "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" did not work very well. If anyone else has advice on how to become rich, please share it with the rest of us.
