 Re: bending hat channel
I guess you using it for your stringers? I uses square tubing and where my rake is I use a skill saw and cut a relief cut about every 6" about half way through it to make it easy to bend and weld to the floor. I then weld the reliefs up.

 Re: bending hat channel
I think instagator uses a tubing roller and rolls a bend first.

 Re: bending hat channel
That would be the best way but you would have to be careful not to squeeze it flat.
What do you have against rectangle tubing or square tubing?

 Re: bending hat channel
I used hat section when I built my rig. I used a hand roller that I have and it worked great. image.jpg image.jpg

 Re: bending hat channel
Why didn't you run them the full length of the bottom?

 Re: bending hat channel
Hard to have true dry storage in an aluminum boat, condensation and all. I've seen some messed up boats with hooks and cracks where people welded the front wall to the bottom of the boat. Just not a fan of it

 Re: bending hat channel
You got it. And that's seal welded also to floor. I've had good success with this way. It's actually broke out so I only have to weld it to floor and stitch to ribs.

 Re: bending hat channel
I weld my stringers to my vertical transome channel and all the way to the nose 3" pipe which is welded to the gunwale. Then the motors leverage is tied from front to back and connected to the gunwale. I also figure it strengthens the nose in case of collision.
