 Grab Bar Designs
Hey guys post up some grab bar designs. I am looking to build a new for my Uncle J. Has a Go Devil type set up now. Looking for something out of the way on side of boat. Would be nice if it had a place to mount my gps.

 Re: Grab Bar Designs
Don't have a pic right now but I welded a piece of square solid stock aluminum on the inside of my boat with 3/16" gussets and a piece of 2" square that slides over it, I cut several relief cuts bent and welded it back up. You can turn my grab bar in 4 different directions or take it completely off

 Re: Grab Bar Designs
Yeah. I figured that. I might try and make it so it passes through. Have to figure out something.

 Re: Grab Bar Designs
Put your pipe all the way in the corner and weld it top and bottom. I don't think it needs to go all the way down.

2014-12-01 18.20.44.jpg Not a great pic but shows the shape of the bar in the backward position. I'm on call and don't have my boat or truck at the moment to show the mount

 Re: Grab Bar Designs
I wanted my bar removable so I used 2 pin mount seat bases and a 2 wheel hand cart. Put 3/4 inch steel posts in the tubing of the cart and bolted them together.

 Re: Grab Bar Designs
USE the KISS design, cut that thing off and run the boat without one. That is what I decided to do this season and I found that grab bar to be a lot like training wheels, didn't really need it after I tried running without it.

 Re: Grab Bar Designs
Check state laws. Some state require a grab bar. Its a good way to get yourself a ticket. I mounted my 5 inch GPS screen on a small ram mount screwed right through the grab bar. I like how it rotates when I am fishing to look at the fish finder.
