 Losing Power
I am running a 35hp longtail. A few days ago I was coming out from a morning of duck hunting and the motor kept turning off every time the motor it would bog down and need more power. It would run fine out of the water but once you put the prop back in the water it would cut out. I have checked the calibrator and the coils and there does not seem to be an issue with any of them. Any other ideas of what could be causing this issue?

 Re: Losing Power
Vent the gas tank. Or air getting into fuel system. Those are easy checks.

 Re: Losing Power
Could be running on one cylinder due to flashover (loosing spark from the boot to the metal air dam where the plug boot goes through the hole)

 Re: Losing Power
Ya I had one only run on cylinder one time do to a bad spark plug easy way to check that is touch the header pipes if one side is hot and the other side is not you know it's only run on one cylinder

 Losing Power
I have had the same issue, bent push rod, ran fine as long as it didn't get in a bind ( which also means running on 1 cylinder but still was firing)

 Re: Losing Power
Not mods have been done to motor. I have checked all fuel lines, carburetor, plugs, plug wires. While motor is running I pulled each side of plug wires and motor does not cut out so I do t think it could be a bad coil. One side of the header pipes is a lot warmer than the other side. If it does have a bad cylinder how can that be fixed. Keep in mind I am no mechanic. Is it something I can fix?

 Re: Losing Power
It idles great. When prop is out of water you would never know anything was wrong even running wide open. When prop is in the water it is run with just a little gas but when you go to run it half throttle it cuts out.

 Re: Losing Power
next time it starts to bog down pull the choke out a little, not all the way just a 1/4 pull. IF it clears up and gains rpm you have a slight clog in the high speed jet. Another issue it could be is the stator, motor will run fine until load is put on it.

 Re: Losing Power
Rods have been checked and seem to be working good. Had a compression test done one cylinder tested 130 and the other was 110. Is that enough of a difference to be lossing power?

 Re: Losing Power
The problem was in the carburetor. There was trash in the gas and jets were clogged.
