Look into a Backwater Inc glider kit.... You won't be disappointed.

Backwater! I liked the first one so much I bought another one, as have several others. If you see it side by side with anything else there's no comparison.

I had a 20hp on a 14/36 and did just fine. Just watch it on sharp turns. I dont think and extra 2 hp is gonna effect anything

Backwater for sure. I run a 23 Swomp on a 1448. It has been a pretty perfect setup for me. About 20 with 2 guys and no load, about 14-15 with 2 guys and 4 doz deeks, gear and a blind.

SWOMP is a great frame! More reinforced than the others. Easiest to adjust cavitation plate

Re: What Longtail kit would yall diehards pick???
Having started back in 1987 with a 18 HP GoDevil Briggs LT on a rickety 1435 jon boat- survived that- and two more 25 HP GD's and an MB 27 at present, there is only one answer back at you and that is BackH20!! I suggest a long think over your choice as to motor and horses- obviously if you are on a tight budget, the DIY will be less$ and more fun perhaps , but I suggest get all the horses you can afford! A 23 Swomp Briggs might be a better choice when you add up all the costs.
