Re: Looking to pick up a Gator trax 5 x 44 18 Inch sides.
I'm selling a 2012 1644 gator trax 18"sides with 21"transom with a 2013 galvanized trailer. Live well, extended front deck and removable rear deck for fishing. If interested hit me up. I'm getting a larger boat built right now from them. My family is too large for a 16'boat. That's the only reason I'm selling the hull and trailer.

I would have already sunk a boat with 18 inch side on Lake Okeechobee. My current boat is an 18x60 with 24 inch sides and 35GTR. It is a tank but hides well, hunts skinny, and runs great.

Comparing the 18 inch sides and short transom weight of a gtr35 vs stomp 35? Does anyone know if there is a real difference in having 21 inch sides or 24 inch sides and a tall transom? I mean as far as performance can you really haul more weight or is it safety? I'm really kinda wondering if money isn't a factor just go with tall sides an tall txt random.

On a 16 foot boat the weight of that motor is huge! The tall transom is a must. The 21" sides will help also. Mainly in a 1/4 throttle turn in deep water. Don't stop too quick in deep water in a short transom. Also some boat launches have horrible angles and the tall transom helps keep water from coming in.

Like i said up there ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ If you dont hunt big waters, you will be fine. I have a 35 on a SHORT transom and never had water come over the back. That is with battery, gas tank, and myself in the back of the boat. I have a 16x48 alweld, and have ran a 35 on a 15x44. You will be fine. DAMNIT!
