 Re: Go-Devil Boat with GTR
Boxing in the transom or trim tabs will likely fix it.

 Re: Go-Devil Boat with GTR
I don't know why your so adiment about flotation. I gained 2 mph by removing the floatations out of my boat. You do know if you take in water , the boat will float but it will float vertically in the water. Once the flotation gets wet it becomes water logged. The foam in my deck and transom were wet at the bottom 6 inches . Was a lot of mush and a bitch to remove ( turbo nozzle does the job but it's messy ) . I probably removed 150lbs of foam out of my boat and much of it was wet. I was able to gain storage by removing the foam as well as better performance.

 Re: Go-Devil Boat with GTR
I had an 1844 GD hull with a modded PD on it and it flat out ran. The little bit of performance lost because of the cutback transom is so minor it would take an engineering degree to calculate.
With my previous powerhead that had, cam, carb, headwork and exhaust it ran 34 with me at 240, 12gal gas and safety equipment.

 Re: Go-Devil Boat with GTR
If you boat takes on water it will float but will float vertical in the water . I removed mine because my boat only runs mainly in 3 to 4 foot of water so flotation Is pointless. My boat only has 18" sides , so I wouldn't take it in deep water anyway.

 Re: Go-Devil Boat with GTR
I removed the floatation box in the back of my boat but kept the side floatation and front floatation in. I actually like the side floatation boxes because I use it to stand on all the time. I does not bother me if any boat I own has or does not have floatation. I keep mine covered and it does not get water logged.

 Re: Go-Devil Boat with GTR
So your saying The weight of the mud motor ( 250lb's give or take ) will not make it float vertical in the water if the boat gets submerged ? If you want keep the flotation it better safe then sorry. I just prefer it with out it ( less weight ) . You can cover your boat if you want but soon as it rain when your pulling the boat or any water that comes into the boat fishing or hunting will absorb into the foam. USCG approved only means the boat will float in the water does not have to be level. Besides if your boat is submerged in water and your in it. what you going to do try to paddle that sucker to shore ? You will have to remove the foam anyway even after you do retrieve the boat it's water logged and the foam will need to be removed. That's why mines insured. If mine sinks then I get more money the boats worth lol. BTW guess yall don't buy john boats or any other boats without flotation ?

 Re: Go-Devil Boat with GTR
You wouldn't of ever been able to replace my foam with out taking off the front of my front deck , then welding it back on. My boat does not have a lil small deck like the newer boats

Whatever floats your boat lol. Is the floor in your boat foam filled as well ? Mine is. I didn't remove it since it helps dampen the noise.

 Re: Go-Devil Boat with GTR
Btw I left the wet foam removed from my throat in an open trash can for a week . Didn't rain the whole week. Was still as wet as when I put the foam in the trash can

 Re: Go-Devil Boat with GTR
Your argument was the foam will not hold water. My point was that it obviously did. The foam that was not wet before but was after I cut out the foam using the power washer and turbo nozzle held water as well . Any water that touched the foam was trapped in the foam itself.

 Re: Go-Devil Boat with GTR
I am in the same position as you (designing and getting ready to buy a boat) and these guys can give you a lot more personal experience based advice on your other questions but I just wanted to throw out there that you should take a look at Prodigy. I have looked and looked and called all the major manufacturers and most of the custom ones and chose Prodigy. The quality and fit and finish are awesome (have seen several in person and rode in them), and their prices are competitive with "off the shelf" models. I havent owned a mud boat yet so take my advice for what it is, but that's who is getting my hard earned money and why.

 Re: Go-Devil Boat with GTR
I really like the prodigy's . I own a Go-Devil boat but myself. I'm currently deciding if I want a prodigy or wccustom . Custom is the way to go. GD boats are nice but a custom you get get the exact layout or hull design you want. Far as flotation is concerned why don't you just ask if you can get the flotation sealed off air tight , that way you won't have issues down the road.
