|
 Long tail shaft wont turn? Went out to hunt this morning, motor has been running flawless since i got it for the most part... Warmed my engine up.. Got in the boat went to start it up again and the shaft wouldn't budge? Is there a bearing in there i can take out and replace? New to the long tails and know nothing about them... Any help and or step by step instructions would be greatly appreciated! ... It is a KKK thai long tail kit .
I need to get back out to my honey hole!!!

Re: Long tail shaft wont turn? So the prop wont turn but your engine runs? Means your coupler isn't connected to your shaft. If it was your engine wouldn't run. If so make sure engine is off and loosen the coupler wing nuts where the shaft comes out. Go to your prop and try to push the shaft back into the engine while you rotate your prop. If you feel the shaft slide up into the coupler, retighten those wing nuts and try and start it again.

Pull start or electric start?
Does the engine turn over?
If nothing spins, engine or prop your either seized a bearing/bushing in the tail assembly or the engine seized up after you shut it down. I'm not familiar with the brand you are running, but I assume the tail shaft would be rebuild able if needed.

Re: Long tail shaft wont turn? Took the coupler off, engine turns freely, the shaft still would not turn, the bushing down by the prop (picture attached) looked melted and when i removed that the shaft turns good now, i just do not know where i can get a new one? Or even a better one?

Re: Long tail shaft wont turn? Put some grease in the damn thing and run it if you want to hunt. Or call the slant eyed f'er you got it from and get his best solution.

Re: Long tail shaft wont turn? Not usually, today i ran it for about 10 min outa the water but i was spraying a hose on it to keep it cool and it seemed to work well
