Post New to the forums, know nothing
Hello all, I'm brand new to these forums! I actually just bought my first duck hunting rig couple weeks ago, before that i was just hunting out of a yak and just got sick of not having enough room.

Now that all being said, its just a 12foot v-hull with slick bottom on it and a 420cc predator engine w/ the KKK longtail kit. I know nothing about long tail motors or maintenance, nor anything about upgrades i can get?

I will tell you that i have been running it and its been running great! And the other day it decided to spew grease out of the the bottom area where you actually put the greese? If that makes sense?... Should i be concerned ? I since refilled the grease, and no the issue is the shaft likes to work its way out therefore the prop will stop and i will have to stop on the way back from the blind and shove it back in ? And suggestions?

Any and all advice and help is much appreciated!!!! I would added a picture of it, hope it shows. Thanks!!

Welcome to the forum!

If its releasing grease, that usually means that the seals are bad or you have overfilled your shaft somehow. but if you can fill it back up and its not doing it anymore, problem solved.

As far as upgrades, I would just google your specific motor and see what aftermarket parts are available for it, but if it runs well now then I wouldn't bother messing with it. Just run it the way it is and be happy with it.

I tried one of those thai kits on my layout boat cause theyre cheap and it worked fine for what I wanted cause it was faster than a trolling motor but that was about it. My advice would be to look into a backwater kit and use your predator engine off your thai kit the difference will be night and day. As far as your shaft issue the prop shaft should have two ears that the coupler is slotted for make sure when you insert the shaft the prop shaft is pushed all the way into the coupler. I used to have to wiggle the prop while I was pushing it into the coupler so it would seat farther into it. the grease issue sounds like u need a new plastic bushing.

Look into one of these kits as mentioned above. http://www.backwaterinc.com/swomp-lite-glider.html
