 war eagle-Black death
OK guys I would like to get the pro's opinions on this. I am looking at buying a war eagle 754 and MB black death 4400. Complete new setup and I am curious about performance. I realize that most are going to tell me that I need to buy a mud hull and I unsterstand that but my issue is.. ..I don't run mud. I don't slap the boat off of trees and don't jump beaver dams and logs. I am in north east Tennessee and I only have to deal with shallow rocky river bottoms and I just don't care for Jet motors. I currently have a 1648 G3 with a 23 mudbuddy and it runs fine in those conditions. I just can't haul as much weight as I would like and Im due for a new outfit.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

 Re: war eagle-Black death
sounds to me like you've already made up your mind. if you dont want to be told otherwise what info are you looking for?
If i were you i'd still go and get a custom hull with .125 aluminum and not that .100. any of the custom boat makers can make you a hull that isnt a "true mud hull"

 Re: war eagle-Black death
I had one with a gtr, not a great combo. Also a flat still run shallower and the chance of striking a rock is less. Also that v makes it a slug with a load.

 Re: war eagle-Black death
No problem, you can get a custom boat for comparable prices. The boat will perform 100 times better. Give prodigy a look, building some fine boats. He also has full rigs, with mb, gtr, etc.

 Re: war eagle-Black death
I've sold quite a few people motors that had a war eagle boat. As Dmax said, not the best running combination, but it will work.........but since you are buying a "complete new set up," I concur with everyone else in that you should seriously consider a boat that was designed for mudmotor use.

 Re: war eagle-Black death
Get the Prodigy and thank everyone later! You may have to cut out some optional items to keep it under $16k but what you do include will be well done and the package will do what you want!!

 Re: war eagle-Black death
Y'all just need to remember that there's plenty of people not wanting to shell out $20k+ for an aluminum flat bottom boat. And if you have to cut out stuff to get it down to $16k, then he's still paying $16k and not getting exactly what he wants.
These mud motors will still rip a blade off a prop just like an outboard, and you'll be SOL just like an outboard. My advice to you is look into an outboard/ tunnel hull (can find something under $10k easy), or look back into the jet. You'll go faster, be happier, and spend waaaaaaayyyyy less money.

 Re: war eagle-Black death
Basically If I can run 18-20 with 3 people and gear with a 754 war eagle and Black Death 4400...I'll be content. Will this outfit do it?

 Re: war eagle-Black death
You won't plain or four, hell I had three big guys in rough water, was a no go. Have to take that into account aswell, rough water will make it harder on the boat. Why not get a true flat, alumicraft, or weldbilt?

 Re: war eagle-Black death
I cant speak for the 754 but i have a 848ldv that i got built out of .125, with a extended raised front deck, gun box, and pod seating in the bad, it has a floor in it as well. I have a stock GTR 35 right now and a 3 man hunting load it runs around 23-24, with a 4 man it will get up on plane but is probably running in the 18-20 mph range. empty it runs around 25-26.

 Re: war eagle-Black death
Brian sorry I had a few guys call and ask about a g3 mm combo yesterday that work at eastman so I figured you worked up there with them. I've got a hd5500 on a 1542 and it will plane 3 ppl all their gear and 4 doz. Decoys. It's not a speed demon but it will run lower to mid 20' if you move stuff around and find the sweet spot, oh and a fat lab. You won't get the full potential as you would from a mud hull but you will be just fine. My problem is these boats can take the abuse you can't put one through with a mm. But as far as around here it should be fine
