 Re: gator tail repaint
I decided to strip it myself to save a lil money.. Kyle at GT told me 900$ roughly to repaint, but if I stripped it, it would be a lot less... Now the fun part..
so my next question is.. Stripping..
Angle grinder with wire wheel? Sander? Some kind of paint stripper?
whats he best and ez way?

 Re: gator tail repaint
I seen it on YouTube. Looks like it works well. But all I see is a spray can at Walmart. Any place that sells it but the gal, or 1/2 gal?

 Re: gator tail repaint
not trying to be a smart ass but how much is it going to save doing it yourself? If it is $200 or $300 I would much rather spend my weekend doing most anything I think. Is it possible to sand blast them?

 Re: gator tail repaint
Aluminium is to soft to sand blast. However I've heard of using walnut shells instead of sand.

 Re: gator tail repaint
I was thinking there was a way to do it but wasn't sure. Seems like it would be a hell of a lot easier though

 Re: gator tail repaint
Soda blast.... I've seen an empty beer can stripped without so much as a dimple.

 Re: gator tail repaint
A friend of mine who paints had a tool used for prepping bed liners. It fit on a buffer and had plastic "fingers" I used that on my boat before paint and it worked good. Didn't remove paint just scratched it pretty good. I like it because it scratched the paint up good but didn't hurt my turf when I hit it.
