Ill take a second to make an into! I've been told the answers to my questions can be answered here. So thank you in advance and I look forward to learning more about mud motors and rigs!

I don't mean to jump on the forum and ask a question right off the bat, but it's an urgent question.
This Saturday I am supposed to meet a guy to possibly buy a boat/motor and trailer..the specs are 1654 go devil with a 23hp gdsd vangaurd like mentioned above. Reading into how important it is to have the right rig specs for your motor and etc I started to get worried. And instead of google I figured my question could be answered straight forward.

I'm not looking to race the boat, or have the baddest rig on the river by no means. I hunt myself and one other hunter and a dog. Mainly will be using the boat in impoundments/refuge. So shallow water and vegetation. The price I would be paying for the boat is $6,300. It's a 2004 hull, and 2013 motor with 13 hours. All in good condition. I'm seeing controversy about the hull size and surprisingly people running 35 hp on even smaller boats! I don't want to invest in something that is not going to perform.

If I left something out just let me know. I need yals input. Thanks again! Either way I am going to invest in a boat but this one is in my price range.. I feel like its a good deal but them again I have been wrong many times in the past.

I'm also looking at a 1544 war eagle with a 25 hp pro drive 2003 sd with 210 hours. $3500 sounds like a great deal to me only problem is he said it had a slight leak in the lower unit of gear oil.......

Then I'm looking at a 2008 23 hp mud buddy mini on a 1544 alumacraft.. $6500

WHich one would you buy!!!

1654 will run about 23MPH with one person and 19 to 20 with you and a dog. That motor brand new is about 4500, the boat is 4500 and trailer 1399 brand new. Just to give you an idea of what it would cost brand new.

i have a 16x54 with a 27sd and i love that boat, very stable and built like a tank. however though its not going to be a fast boat but with all the floatation you dont have to worry about sinking it. my suggestion would to be to test drive them to see what fits your style, i fish alot out of mine and the go devil has plenty of fishing room. The only thing i dislike about mine is the sliding through turns, running wide open taking hard turns that boat WILL SLIDE ALOT. takes a while to get used to but other than that i love it
