Post 14-16 foot boat layouts
I'm thinking about gutting my boat and doing a new layout. I've got a few ideas but I figured I'd see if anyone has any pictures of their layout on a 14-16 foot boat. My boat is a 1542. I mainly hunt from it but it gets all kinds of use year round.

1448 Lowe mod-v. Taken last spring. I cut out the middle 1/3 of the benches and added a floor. The remaining pods from the benches are tied together beneath the floor using angle aluminum. The ends of the remaining pods are framed with angle aluminum and will be capped this year. I also crafted a removable grab bar that isn't pictured.

I like the idea of taking out the middle 1/3. Did you have to pull out foam? If so, did it weigh much of anything?

Yeah, I pulled out all the foam. It weighed nearly nothing. I plan on putting foam back in the middle pods. I saved it all to measure the volume of it. I also have a layer of foam under the floor. My goal is to have as much foam as I started with when my project is finished.

As for the questionable substance I was floating in.... It was really strange. It looked like the top of a fresh root beer float and I expected to bottom out but never did. It was a wierd little finger off of my local river. It was about 20 feet wide at the beginning and my depth finder showed it to be 6 feet deep. It narrowed down like you can see in the photo for about 100 yards and was a steady 3-4 feet deep. Looking behind the boat where the foam parted only momentarily as we moved thru it, I was shocked to see it was crystal clear water. Turned out this finger had springs flowing in all over the banks. Truly a bizarre find being we were running a river that is about as clear as a glass of chocolate milk.
