Post Boat prices
I'm not in the market, but see guys all the time wanting something for nothing. Thinking these boats should be given away. 4k cash for a complete rig! Really? Those of us that spend the money on good to great rigs are never going to give them away. I believe the problem with mud boats are that we sell our stuff too cheap at tones or just sell ourselves short. It's hard to really hurt sobe of these boats. Especially the ones with 3/16 and good stringer placement. Maybe I'm wrong, but there is hardly no way a $26K rig is only worth 14k 2 years later unless they rammed bridges daily. We are driving the value of our own rigs down by doing this. Ok. Sorry. Rant over.

I think abuse and hours had allot to do with it, but I agree shouldn't be that low

I also see people trying to charge 500 less than brand new for a used rig. That is just dumb. These motorshave a shelf life and many people abuse the shit out of these motors. Why would anyone want to pay 500 less for a used rig when the earranty is voided? The simple fact is that these motors lose value quickly. I laugh my ass off at some of the prices listed on this website. They will never sell. One dude has a 10 year old rig and is asking 1000 less than brand new. Really? Really?

If you don't like the way the current market looks, don't sell your rig. If you don't like the price of used rigs, don't buy one. Pretty simple solutions for both of you.

Something is worth only what someone will pay for it. I would believe that people who sell their stuff are not just pricing it low to sell it quick. They are pricing what they think it's worth and dropping prices to get their stuff to sell.

Can't blame a guy for trying no to lose too much money on a rig. I say price it a little high and see if someone bites. Then go down accordingly.

Post Re: Boat prices
I think one of the big reasons boat prices are the way they are is because alot of people probably bite off alot more than they can chew financially. I lost count of how many boats I seen where the seller was just looking to get payoff value. Regardless of whether the boat was worth it or not.

The flip side to that is alot of people (especially from Craigslist) expect a seller to give their shit away so the buyer can get the deal of a lifetime. Or they'll try and devalue it for ya so you think its not worth nothing. I had a guy really, really lowball me on the grounds that "a bunch of shit needs fixed" before he even seen the damn boat he was making an offer on. Nothing needed fixed at all.

Just another Craigslist pro trying to see how hard up I was to sell. Thats the perils of buying and selling used I suppose.

I agree that they bite off more than they chew. They have a ton of 2015 rigs for sale and it is only Feb.

Idk if its just me, but rigs down south are cheap as hell. I see rigs on cragslist and I could get a rig 5k less down there than up here and it kinda makes me angry. I guess I could drive the distance down but is it really worth it. I just wanna know why they are so dam cheap down south and so dam expensive up north.

It's all about market. I've bought and sold several rigs and usually make money.

Bottom line: it is worth what any one person will pay.

Just be smart and patient and you can buy or sell what you want for what you need.

If your paying 26 grand for a jon boat with a lawnmower engine on it, I think you would have to be pretty naïve to expect not to take a pretty good hit on it.

I know, the truth of the matter is that your paying a very inflated price for a new rig.

It is insane how many rigs are for sale. It will be hard for me to sell my rig next month even at a discount price

You can still buy a jon boat with an outboard for about 5k. And, it comes with efi and square chines, lol. So if that's what you want, you're on the wrong forum.

It's a niche market for sure. You don't see too many outside of the gulf coast. Then up through the land locked part of the south they get real scarce. I've got abt 4 grand in my rig and could probly get abt 6500 out of it bc I bought all my stuff in LA

Here's one...way short of 26 grand. These are the kind of deals that are reasonable.
