Post Ordering material for hull
I'm in the process of ordering the material for the hull. I've designed out a 1850, 3/16 in bottom with 1/8 in sides. I'm going to do 8 inch catwalks and a gun box. Other than that an open hull. Plan on putting a 35 GTR on it. The question I have for the guys that have built their own boats is what grade aluminum are you ordering for everything other than hull. I've priced out 5086 for the sheets for the hull. But the price for that in the extrusions would be very pricey as opposed to some of the alternatives. The lady at Pierce aluminum is working me up a quote using 5052 and 6061. Would that be fine? I'm a fairly experienced fabricator, but aluminum boat manufacturing is not on my resume as of yet.

The main thing is doing 5086 on the bottom because it's the hardest. Everything else doesn't matter.

The extrusions should be 6061.

Get with Tookie at pierce. As the OP said only the bottom needs to be the 5086.
