I have a 24 Honda Longtail on my 1644 go devil. It is currently being rebuilt and tuned up by a local shop, but I have been looking at the classifieds and have found a few motors I am seriously interested in.

My question is would a 23 surface drive hands down outperform and run faster than my 24 longtail, would it be worth the upgrade?

Or should I just go to a 35 surface drive?

Found a 55 surface drive on craigslist near me, do you think that is too much power on a 1644?

Probably not outperform, but that's dependant on your comparison points. Faster, yes. Worth the upgrade, depends on what you're looking for.

Best rule of thumb- get the most HP you can afford, you will use it. The weight difference will not be that much if anything. I have never run a long tail, but a surface drive will definitely give you speed.
