 Re: super long tail
I have a SLT with 35 cdi on a Gator Trax 17x54 I LOVE this motor had it 3 seaons now around 70hrs no problems at all. The neutral is handy but the big diff vs other LT motors I have owned is the belt drive makes the motor perform like a short shaft with the benefits of a LT. I have several friends who now have the SLT 2 have the 45 black death motor even its easy to handle

 Re: super long tail
4Rivers, good report. I asked a while back but I was curious about the belt drive- what adjustments are needed, if any, on the belt tension? Have you changed this belt out yet? Are parts readily available? 45 horses!! Holy Toledo! Does that mean you can run an 11" prop? Wonder what speeds that will achieve? What do currently get with the 35 cdi?? I am glad MB has not ended production and support on this motor.

 Re: super long tail
Are they running traditional "long tail" props that are larger, or mounting surface drive props on them?
I need to start thinking about prop choice for the predator chassis I just picked up.

 Re: super long tail
I'd try a 10x8 and see where the rpms are at for a starting point, then go from there.

 Re: super long tail
I would like to see what this motor would be like with trim and big blade. I fine it's hard to hold a long tail in the sweet spot as for as prop depth and one I drove did better running on the surface but was a beast to drive. I would want to drive it longer than 10 min, but I think power trim on this motor would do wonders

 Re: super long tail
speeds with me a 90 lb lab,9ft four rivers layout and lots of decoys 22-24mph according to GPS seems to vary. Belt still plenty tight have not had to tighten Boat Dr thought it would not need it near as much as my Short shaft. Much shorter belt

 Re: super long tail
What I mean is I had a 16 hp gd that would do better when it was cavitating, It was prolly homemade idk, but power trim neutral and a free floating handle would have made it the best motor ever
