Post Who's driven a stick steering rig?
Earlier I posted up my tiller handle rig for sale to buy a stick steering rig in the near future. Has anyone ever driven one? What did you think of the handling of the rig. What did you find as far as the pro's? Con's? I'm making the switch due to the comfort of the seating while handling. Due to having lower back issues I'm looking into this option. Thanks for the input on this...

I have had mine for about 2 years. Very comfortable, stumps/logs don't jar you, and it's nice sitting in the forward position. If you're a tiller guy, it's a great compromise between that and a CC. Very fun to run. Since you're right there in loreauville, go test run one at pd.

I would think sitting towards the front of the boat would be more jarring regardless of what your steering with.

Wouldn't it be easier standing steering a console steer vs taking a pounding sitting down on a stick steer ? Iv never driven one was jw.

My concern with the Center Console is the slower control of turning compared to the tiller and the stick steering. I will probably test drive both models this week considering I live just a few miles from Prodrive. I may test drive the Gatortail's also considering they are in my neighborhood also...

I did not know if the stick steering was in the front or back. I do know that as a commercial fisherman that ran a stick steering for several years from the front my back took a beating. I ran a stick on a 17x60 and a 24x72 and can say there is nothing slicker than setting in the front with a quick steering stick hauling ass driving like a fighter pilot. However this was with a 90 hp and a 200 hp Yamaha outboards. I do know from experience that when hauling ass shit hits the fan very hard with stick steering.
However with a mud rig the stick steering is really sweet.

Clay I did see the sweet pro drive stick I just could not remember if it was up front or in the back.

It's in the back. It's hard line steering.

I had a Yamaha f200 on stick and hit a striped bass while going at crazy speed. How do I know I hit a striped bass? It was about 12 to 15 pounds folded around my lower unit and stuck there. It caused my boats rear end to hydro plane sideways . I still get chills thinking about that moment. My pardner was sitting on the fish box beside me and still has the willys too. I ordered a sea star pro set up from the boat after changing my underwear.
