 Speakers
Im gonna move forward with removing the foam out of my boat as soon as the mud bugs ride is over. Im planning on leaving just enough of the pod at the very back of the boat to put two 6x9 speakers back there faceing inward. Setting that up shouldnt be a problem. I have two more 6.5" speakers that im considering putting up under the extended deck, my only concern though is if it would be muffled out since its under the deck and there would be gas tanks under there too. Anyone done it this way?

 Re: Speakers
If your putting the gas tanks infront of the speakers then yes it would be muffled.

 Re: Speakers
Thats what i figured but dont know anywhere else to put them without takeing up storage. I guess the only way to do it without the tanks in the way would be to put them as far on each side as possible? And is the foam in the front packed in there pretty tight? Reason im asking is because of running wires behind that wall between the foam and aluminum.

 Re: Speakers
^ Yep he's right. I know from experience. Get some one to make you a lil set up to mount the speakers on both corners of your stern.

 Re: Speakers
Stick one in the side of the split bench. It wouldn't take up much room and there's already wires pulled on the starboard side.

 Re: Speakers
Yeah im gonna leave two little boxes in the back on each side for speakers and switch pannel.
Will it sound off balance with only having 1 speaker forward and on one side like that? Was trying to do it where I wouldn't have the speaker in the way in that dry box. And have the 2 up front so its balanced

 Re: Speakers
Lol. Im pretty OCD about how things are set up / organized. Like if somethings on one side it needs a match on the other lol. By balance i mostly mean sound. Think it would put out enough sound if i put all 4 speakers in the back of the boat faceing inward?

 Re: Speakers
Got one, dont like it. The only time i ever use it is when im in the boat and its just in the way most the time. Might as well take the speakers out of it and put them in the boat while i the equipment and have the boxes torn apart. I dont think it would be that much work to leave just enough of a box back there to put speakers in

 Re: Speakers
Thanks for your pictures looks good.
i think im going to put battery and amp in side my right dry box and run wires down the side and put all 4 speakers in a little section the rear pods im goin to leave all faceing inward in the boat. All i got is a POS $30 amp right now but ima put a good one in it when i get the money to do it so i'll have a full range of volume while running. Planning on starting this project the week after next i'll get pics of the process up once i get there

 Re: Speakers
I have the 4 speakers in a cooler radio now with a $30 "800watt" amp and its not very loud at all. No radio head just straight audio jack. Just going to use that for now until i can get a better amp.

 Re: Speakers
Damn that sounds good. With my cooler radio its loud but when im running i cant hear it unless its right next to me even then it's barely loud enough. I think once i get the speakers mounted into a more solid surface like the aluminum and get a good true 500watt amp it should be plenty loud.

 Re: Speakers
I was useing a little lawn mower battery and it last 2-3 days of use. Im gonna get a smaller deep cycle battery to run it with. A bigger amp will drain more battery but with a bigger obe it should last about the same.

 Re: Speakers
I run a 180.2 mb quart amp for my 2 alpine 7" speakers and run trolling motor off same battery, did it for almost 6 hours! But I have a good setup for charging both batteries on the water

 Re: Speakers
This is where i stand on the speakers. I have the pannel on this side just jb welded on for now while i was doing my wireing. Waiting until i can some angle aluminum to put across the top to finish off that side. Got the other side pannel cut to fit today and got holes cut out for the speakers. All i got left to do is weld up the pannels and run the rest the speaker wires. Only hold up i got is i cant get the damn amp to work lol ImageUploadedByTapatalk1430879536.120597.jpg

 Re: Speakers
I finally upgraded from the cooler radio about two weeks ago. My cooler may be a lil raggedy looking (put together one drunkin night) but it pumps plenty of sound. The biggest reason for upgrading is it was taking up too much room in my 16'. Just an idea instead of you fooling with that foam but you can see in the pic on the left the conduit I ran for my head light wires.

 Re: Speakers
I guess I am old...I wear ear plugs so the motor noise doesn't drive me up a wall, the last thing I want to hear is the motor drowned out by music as loud as a jet engine. With that said. I am glad you guys are having a big time with your boats. There are a lot worse things you could be doing!

 Re: Speakers
Big rich has a sweet setup. I would need grills to protect the speakers from sticks, feet, etc.

 Re: Speakers
I was pretty happy this past weekend with the lil sound system I made. First time I've used it in my boat since making it 4 6" west marine speakers pushed by a Sony blue tooth deck, no amp. Depending on what song was playing I could make out the words when running wide open with dual outlet MAC (no baffle) and heads worked. The stereo screams for what it is though

 Re: Speakers
Had a few people PM me on the details on how i did this, so I figured id post up all the details on this theead.
I went with two west marine pro series 6.5" speakers and two west marine pro series 6x9" speakers. They were around $200 a pair if I remember correctly.
Powered by a Rockford M400 marine amp i found on amazon for around $200 aswell. I have it wired up to its own deep cycle trolling motor battery and it will last a whole weekend on a single charge. My Marshmellow exhaust is pretty loud and i can hear the radio loud and clear over it as well as passengers can too. No head unit just a RCA/auxiliary pluged straight into the amp.
