Post So much for mowing the grass !!
Before I get started my motor did have oil in it. So I crank my motor and pull it out of my tiny lil shed ( so I can do a routine oil change before I start mowing grass) then the motor kinda dies down then picked back up which has happened before on a cold start. I literally had the motor running less then 2 min if even one minute and bam . I turned around and I saw a cloud of smoke . On the inside off my alternator on the engine block I see a golf ball sized whole. So I call the dealer I purchased the mower from and asked if my mower was still under warranty ? They said yes but the motor might not be under the warranty. I said WTF is the purpose of a warranty if the motor is not under the warranty. They said even if it's not they will see what they can do to make it right. I purchased this thing in 2013, other then a few things here and there it's ben a good motor. A new engine is 595 out of pocket and not including labor. I'm guessing I threw a rod or its my cam . What do talk think ?

Lol it a 21 hp Intek Briggs. Threw a rod. The place I purchased it charged me a 100$ diagnostic fee. He said you have a whole in the engine . I told him good job worth a 100$ . Then he explained I threw a rod and does happen but it's uncommon. He even made sure it had oil as well. Damn 5 min diagnostic fee cost me a 100$ lol now I'm hoping the motor is under warranty!

I would stay far away from that shop if they charged you $100 for that diagnosis.

I'll prolly end up just buying the motor my self with the help from some one selling it to me at his cost ( 495$ ). My small engine repair teacher in high school ( family friend ) will instal it for me if I don't have time to. Just thought maybe the business would hold up on there warranty. I didn't need them to do diagnostics , dumb asses I know there's a whole and I threw a rod lol . I dare them to ask me to pay

Maybe spell hole rite and they wouldn't have charged u 100$ but in all reality by a 23 Comercial engine and put back on it not those throw away motors it will work maybe very Lil customizing but I think all Briggs have the same mounting foot print

Some places even though there is a warranty on a Complete unit will have a warranty deductible. I know a vehicle with a 100k powertrain warranty will have something of the sort.

I don't wanna give the name out just yet. They still have my mower. Don't wanna bad mouth them incase they do warranty the work. Didn't realize this was a spelling bee lol !

Yes it's a hustler. First time I used it after I purchased it the front half the deck can off the brackets. Guess they just hand tighten when they assemble there mowers !

I mean shit happens. It's the first time this has happened to any mower I have owned. The mower is a good mower. The engine ran great before it blew lol the only issues Iv had with it was shitty attention to detail assembling the mower itself.

That's what I was talking about, not the engine. Shit like that happens. I had a john Deere rider with a briggs single cylinder, maybe 15 or 16.5 hp. Was cuttimg the yard and it just locked up and coughed once and spewed white smoke out that rolled like a fog across the yard. It had oil too. Gave it to a friend to mess with and bought a new, bigger mower.

Oh no the mower itself is a beast long as it's put together properly! The welded deck has took a beating and still no dents .
