just wondering if anyone has a swomp 25 efi? cant make up my mind what motor to get on my 1448? either swomp 23 or the new 25 efi? any info would help!!! thanks

I just order one LS 25 EFI from Backwater, I'll let you know as soon as I try it.

I'd always take EFI over carb on any motor, but I also live in a place that has 120+ F temp swings in a year.

It is a 16x48 modified Sea Nimph, riveted, very light, It was running with a Kohler Go devil LT 25 , I was making 19 mph, 2 persons and all the duck hunting gear, I expect to do beter with the new Backwater. I'll let you know.

I just purchased the backwater 23hp ss a month ago. On a 1542 alumacraft flat riveted I run 23mph solo and 18-19mph with another full size guy and cooler. Very pleased with performance and how easy it steers. Im guessing the 1448 would be fairly close on performace depending on weight of your boat. I also use a heavy duty lawn mower battery much lighter then big marine battery and a 3 gallon gas tank.

Tough choice, both good options for a 1448 or if you go up to a 1644/1648...23 HP has a recoil start, which I wish came with the bigger block motors...weight wise minimal but noticeable on a 1448, difference, cost difference significant.. 25 HP definitely will push better but maybe only a 2 mph gain, depending on the load. 23 HP purportedly has more "mods" available, but that really would only be a plus for a shortail motor. The good folks at BackH20 could probably offer some more insights on that choice!
