The Wildfowl ad went to print a month earlier than it was suppose to, and MB isnt too happy about that. They were going to make an official announcement on their web site on June 1st, but this ad let the cat out of the bag a couple weeks earlier than expected. They are still working on videos and pics for their web site (most of which were shot at my camp last month), so that they can release all of the details and prices, but here is some initial info:

The system is all electric, you flip the clutch switch towards the bow you go forward, flip it towards the stern you go backwards.

YES, there will be an upgrade/retrofit kit to upgrade all existing motors. This will be a dealer ONLY install, and only avialable from a few select dealers. However, MB wants to make a few hundred new motors before they release an upgrade kit, so it is going to be a few months before this will be available.

MB also decided to upgrade a couple other parts of the motor for 2016. The lower drive tube, skeg, braces, and transom bracket are all going to be SS (and yes, you can upgrade all of those parts on existing motors in the field too). New (sealed) trim switch from Mercury.

Why should there be any negative posts about MB's reverse. After all it is only a couple of years late and MB doesn' ever release things to the public until it is a proven product. The owner never has to test things out for themselves, MB does all the testing and when they do decide to put it out it is the best of the best

Ill be the first kool aid addict to say... I hope it works out! I like all the "convenience" features on the mudbuddy's and the fact that you have more of a gear selection. When my gtr is paid for, you may see it in the classifieds.

This is great news for the GTR guys in a few years you can all trade your motors in for new one's. They should have figured out how to put instant reverse on them by then, haters going to hate mud buddy may not do every thing right but they are the industry leader for new mudmotors and a lot of that seems to be because of mr.*****

Thats why i threw in the "lol" i figured it would be a turd in forward and in reverse! But then again it might be the best thing since the belt drive.

AND mud buddy went ahead and copied the Reverse Plate from GTR too!

This looks like real bad news for Gator Tail.

From the looks of all the GTR's in the classifieds I believe a lot of guys are switch hitters or going to be. There is quite a few GTR's for sale. I'm puzzled?

They should have had this 3 years ago so that we could start getting them by now!! What's the waiting list look like, did anyone put in a deposit?

I don't know the details of the suit. . .but if GT retained a patent attorney for the purpose of protecting this design from infringement, I hope they have retained a personal injury attorney who is better at filing/litigating malpractice suits than their patent attorney was at filing/litigating patent infringement suits.

The Middle District Court of Louisiana's findings of fact are at least somewhat interesting compared to most federal court orders.

Not sure how Boss now fits into the mix.

Boss utilizes a gear drive like an outboard which is a proven design for that application. Time will tell if it'll hold up to mudmotors.
The new reverse is just applied to the existing proven belt drive, so it's adding reverse to that. Just another way to skin the cat. Might prove to be more reliable than the V/H, but at the very least, it's simpler, and lighter. There's room for both in this market, as well as space for gt.

Now THAT looks a whole lot better than the Boss H. Good for them.

How? It's assembled in LA now, so alot more people are willing to give it a shot it seems.

Not many people gonna buy an H now that the simplicity of the HD has reverse. It also has a retrofit kit to install on existing motors. When the kit is out more people will retrofit their existing motors to get reverse.

The H is heavier, slower, and already has sorta a bad rap.

These are solely my opinions. No research was done.

Now think about BOSS that just bought the rights to that contraption.

I will also say that in the last 8 months or so MB 's CS has vastly improved and will probably get even better now that they and BPS are in different locations. I look forward to what comes now. But I will say, this has completely removed the Boss option from my mind
