Your boat made up your mind for you, 23. I think the 37 would be fun to drive in the summer with a light load but in the winter with duck hunting gear ? I think the 23 would be much safer in the dark with a full load. Plus you get the pull start and ability to crank and run with out a battery.

Have to agree with 139.. 37 would be nice just for the extra power to play with, but from a functionality standpoint, the 23 is your best option. Just out of curiosity, bb means brother breaux?

37 would fly. But I'll reiterate what the others have said, the 23 is the motor you need for your current boat.

I'm sure that BB hull is stout and the 35 could serve for mud drag racing but for real world duck hunting and safety, the 23 is a great match, weight-wise and power-wise. I started with a 1436 jon and used an 18 HP GD LT and it worked but was lucky not to have sunk it, very little freeboard. I have to figure with a full hunting load and say three hunters, that 1636 would be a liability. The 23, with its power production, many after market mods, and recoil start is a great motor in both a longtail and shortail platform- look at those Copperhead 23's and the test tuns with those beefy Phowler 44" wide hulls, they are quite impressive.
