 Transom question
I've searched until I was blue in the face. Maybe I'm wording it wrong..? Anyway, the question is, does the 45° angle at the bottom of the transom hurt you in speed? If so, by not having it will it hurt you in reverse? If this helps, I'm asking for a 35 gtr. I've noticed that all boats used to have them now I'm starting to not see them.
And for future reference what is it called?
Thanks

 Re: Transom question
From everything ive read ive gathered this. Yes, it will hurt you in speed to an extent bc its basically 2 inches of boat that you dont have. Where it really seems to hurt is staying on plane at low speed bc you have less planing surface. I havent seen anybody actually say it significantly helps in reverse. I believe its a dovetail?

 Re: Transom question
So what your saying is that it's not really worth it?

 Re: Transom question
Try searching cut back transom. This was discussed in length not long ago.

 Transom question
I have one on my current boat and you are only talking about 1.5"-2" of planing surface lost. Honestly I don't think it helps or hurts significantly either way.
Some of the custom boats I've seen leave an overhang on the bottom and sides of the transom that looks like a little mud shovel for reverse and they still back up just fine.

 Re: Transom question
It is all relevant to the size of the boat, amount of load and design of chine.

 Re: Transom question
Just a quick comparison. The 1844 GD hull I had ran 35+ with a modded PD.
I sold that hull to a friend and he now runs a stock PD, I also run a stock PD on my Geaux (PD) 1848. Our speeds are within 1 mph running light, load them down and mine is slightly faster on top end and hole shot.
