Post Gator Trax Backlog on Boats
Why does it take so long to get a boat from Gator Trax? They must be selling tons of them.
The wait is months long.
I wonder how many they produce in a year?

Don't know, but Phowler is the same. I ordered one from Phowler on March 15th and it's not yet done. Should be soon though.

Post Re: Gator Trax Backlog on Boats
I'm on my 2nd week for the Havoc MST I ordered. I was just told possibly 6-8 weeks yet. Seems out of line. Only thing they told me was that I SHOULD have it by MN season. Doesn't leave me much time for scouting. I am going to start shopping around. But my next choice would have been a gator. This post answered that question. Damn.....

On the other hand motor was only 2 week wait and is sitting at dealer waiting for a boat!

No.....Savage is telling a customer it would be a 3 week wait (max) when boat was ordered then stating after 2 weeks that it's looking more like another 6-8 weeks.

Post Re: Gator Trax Backlog on Boats
I should have mentioned that the first time. Everything in my area (MN) that dealers stock are just welded johns. Run of the mill stuff. I looked at an Alumacraft yesterday on my way home. Doesn't look anything like what I would want. The Havoc MST would be fine around here. We don't bang them up like the boys in the south. I would have an outboard if it wasn't for all the veg around here. All our mud is soft and next to no stumps. Havoc is light and built for what I wanted. I was sold on the turn around time and cost for an entry level mud boat. Now I'm just frustrated.

Post Re: Gator Trax Backlog on Boats
I will be looking around. My worst fear is that 6-8 weeks will turn into yet a longer wait time. I would understand even a 4-5 week wait (total)......I would have moved on this earlier, just wanted to have the money inline before ordering. A new boat and motor is a big expense for me. In the end it is my fault. I should have tried to make something work earlier. Sounds like everybody is back logged a bit.

Check bass pro, they usually have a few Gator trax boats on the lot. At least in Myrtle Beach they do...

The cool thing is you can wear your Drake MST gear while driving your havoc MST boat. You'll kill the most ducks for sure.

Post Re: Gator Trax Backlog on Boats
A gator was my second choice only due to the feedback I have read. What I have ordered is a 1750 MST. So something comparable in the gator lineup. I stuck with the standard .100 hull due to my terrain. MST was an easy way to get in the boat and a good place for the dog to sit. Also from what I have been told it acts as a great spill way for lower transom boats. Not completely necessary, but I thought I would try something different. I was planning on driving to look at a few this weekend. The dealership I ordered the boat from is giving me grief about wanting to cancel out and getting my money back. A different boat may not be an option until we can come to terms on something. But another 6-8 weeks is total BS when they promised 3 week total wait.

They all take 6 to 8 weeks or longer. My old go devil took 6 weeks, my Prodrive took 9 weeks. The gator tail we have at work took 13 weeks. The build to order mostly

Havoc just sent an email saying boat will ship out end of this week or early next. I got bumped up for pre paying. I hope this holds true. Should be in the water in 2 weeks if everything works out.

Thanks again for all the help.

I think they keep just enough staff to keep up but not to build inventory. Small companies do not want to have inventory laying around as it costs too much money.

How much money does an average boat have in aluminum?

I just sit in my boat in amazement that it was once a stack of aluminum. You people that turn that stack of aluminum into boats are truly talented. I swear I would not know which end went where. Of course not knowing how to weld would also be a problem for me.

If they are so far behind, why don't they have more people building?
How many days does it take to take the stack of aluminum and turn it into a boat? Not painting or motor. A week or so?

That makes sense. I just can't get a grip on "how long" it takes to build the boat.
One boat, no paint or motor, a week? a day? 2 hours?
They must be really selling a ton of them at Gator Trax.

We can all be happy companies like G Tail are not out sourcing builds to other companies. In the town I live in we have a company that does nothing but help companies fill orders they are behind on. The brands that get built there would surprise any of you. A wait time sucks, no doubt......But imagine a guy building your boat from plans he has never seen before and getting the same build quality as the next. Especially when the week before the same guy was welding up train cars. At least they are giving honest times......and not a false time like I was. I can also not blame Havoc...they are not the people that gave me the timeline. That's on the dealer.

All the wait time really means is that they have a hell of a product and people want it!
