Post Belt housing gasket and bearing question
Completely disassembled the output shaft and bearings ect on my Beavertail 35hp surface drive and there was water in the belt housing due to a shotty gasket... would it be better to seal it with RTV instead of ordering another factory gasket which failed after 3 years? Also, can i just take the bearings in to NAPA or a similar place and have them get replacement bearings or should I just order everything from Beavertail? They're prices are pretty rediculous on stock parts. Oh, and I thought it was funny how the clutch has "Gator Tail" stamped on it.

You should be able to take the bearings to one of the auto parts places or a milwright shop and have them matched up. Cant say about the gasket. Is it an o-ring like on the gatortails or is it a true gasket?

Buy some gasket material and cut your own? And use permatex to get a better seal.

Permartex is great stuff. Chemical resistant flexible and tough.

It's simple. get a mud motor. shoot ducks in the face.
