go devil LT top seal issue
Hi folks I have an older gd LT with the old seal system in the top, I'm on new top seal #2 and it leaks a good bit as well, my shaft is in good shape, good bushing clearance and alignment. What gives? I'm having to put like 30 pumps of grease to top it off. I have the new seal system in the lower, can I not just order another lower seal system and put it in the top and loosen to grease it like I would the old upper seal??

Run whatever one you like but drill a hole in the shaft and weld a bung to put a lubricator. This will give a spot for the grease to expand to and stop blowing seals.

Re: go devil LT top seal issue
Thank you! Does it matter much where I put the lubricator? In relation to the grease zert?

Re: go devil LT top seal issue
I don't think so as long as you are uphill from the bushings. On the one I'm building the lubricator is going as far up ad I can get it and a zirt is going uphill less that an inch from each bushing so I can pump it full from the zirt to the next bushing.
It's simple. get a mud motor. shoot ducks in the face.

I think the auto luber is just more or less to replace the grease that's slowly consumed over time, after you've pumped the shaft housing full

Re: go devil LT top seal issue
Thanks for the info guys. I did not know that. Now I have a question. Do you fill the grease cup at all after you've filled the shaft, all the way full, half?

GD says to not fill directly to auto loader. Just fill it through zerk on the shaft unit its 3/4 full.

Re: go devil LT top seal issue
Thanks everyone for all the good info, I'm gathering up places to get my own seals (when I figure out which part # I need) lubricator and end cap. Gd quotes the visi-lube at 65$ their mark up is rediculous. Hopefully I can get a wrap on this soon, I'm ready to use my rig we've been building since may.

Re: go devil LT top seal issue
Check for the visi-lube lubricator on Ebay, they are several for less than Forty dollars. P.

Re: go devil LT top seal issue
You can find the seals on the seal manufacturers website, but you cannot purchase them anywhere except Go-Devil. Some kind of proprietary bullshit.

Re: go devil LT top seal issue
seals are as common as nuts and bolts. You need the ID, the OD, the width, the seal lip style and seal material. Then go to a quality distributor and order how many you need. Lots of different manufacturers produce the same or similar seals. The easiest method is to have a smart and helpful distributor that will help you. It truly isn't rocket science. This is America, for heavens sake. No one in the world has the access that we have to this stuff. Expect to pay $10.00 or less.

Re: go devil LT top seal issue
Exactly! If a man made it, a man can fix it or make it better.. I used a set of calipers at work to get my seal deminsions, really standard measurments. I will check with our suppliers monday, the only thing I'm coming up short on is the end cap.. if all else fails I'll just make one at work.

Re: go devil LT top seal issue
If any one needs the oil seals I have 6 of them. I didn't use them for my build and they're like 11 dollars a piece. You pay for shipping and you can have em
