 Floor lighting question
And let me start by saying I have looked through threads with out much success. So here it goes what are you guys using for LED floor lighting I'm looking at getting 30ft of this SUPERNIGHT (TM) High Density Green Waterproof Led Light Strip, SMD 3528, 600 LEDs 5 Meter or 16 Feet LED Strip 120 Leds/M https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BSODFOK/re ... hwbRDY7CF2 And I'm just concerned if they will be bright enough. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

 Re: Floor lighting question
Put them under the rub rails. Not by the floor. I've got a friend who has then in his bass boat and they've been going 5 years
Put a bead of Silicon on the top side so they don't come off and it protects the covering from coming off.

Pretty bright. I got red so they didn't jack with your night vision

When I get home I'm gonna post what the previous owner of my boat put in for interior lighting. Cheap at autozone and almost too bright

 Re: Floor lighting question
I would go with something different than the 3528 led. I had some and they weren't that bright, I suggest a 5630. That's the happy medium I found between can't see shit and blind you to death.

 Re: Floor lighting question
depends on brand, if you spend the money on quality there is. the 3528 SMDs from www.suberbrightleds.com they are brighter than the 5050 SMDs from amazon. I know because I had the 15ft strips side by side and the lights from superbrightleds.com were twice as bright as the brighter chipset from amazon. also measured the voltage at the end and while I cannot remember specifics, I do know there was less voltage hitting the end of the strip for the amazon ones. But to each their own. I did put 2 strips in a buddy of mines boat and they are still good, been about a year.

 Re: Floor lighting question
Check out blue water led if you want strips. I have some friends that run them on their bass boats and they are very bright but not to the point to where they take away from your vision. Also they have an extremely good warranty and customer service is second to none.. But if you want something really bright that not a lot of people have look up the rigid deck lights. They are single led lights but are much brighter and smaller and cast a wide fan of light and I run them on my bass boat and will put them on my next one when I order it. Both have great products and the lights will outlast the motor.

 Re: Floor lighting question
I'm cheap so I went with a mid priced eBay light. The 5630 I have now are way brighter than the 3528 I had. I also put another strip if 3m tape on the boat then attach the lights to that.

 Re: Floor lighting question
I went with the 3528 600 strip in green on my boat. Mounting location, (IMO) depends on your boat deck, transom area and crease on your sides. On my GT Extreme, I ran mine mid way up, below the side brace thingamagiggy. When transitioning, I used a big glob of clear silicone to make the bends. I used rubbing acohol to clean the surfaces before applying and have had good luck with them sticking (so far) with only the 3m backer tape. On my last boat, I used bright white 600 strip, and it was way too bright. I would use green or red.

Here are the 3528s from superbrightleds.com, in red. About 24ft total worth of lights!

 Re: Floor lighting question
These are Amazon el-cheapo's..."Supernight" brand SMD 3528. I spaces them out using 6 LED's per location. Undershot my wiring guesstimate and haven't installed the last one I wanted up on the front port side. Got the clip hanging, just need to go get a couple more feet of wire and install the last one.
I alcohol wiped each location where I used the adhesive back strips, ran a bead of silicon on each end to try and keep in place. So far, so good. But, I only did this around beginning of September.
Photo on left was with a flash; right without the flash.

Blushamu--do each set of 6led strips have a positive and negative running back to the battery or switch panel?

 Floor lighting question
One length of wire spliced into these. The clip is attached to the end of the LED strip. The strips are cut to length from a roll of LED strip lights.

 Re: Floor lighting question
Blu - I would highly suggest not using those but these from superbrightleds.com. The ones below make a btter connect EVERYtime and vibration will not affect them, also you can dab silicone inside before you clip the top down to keep water out as well!

 Re: Floor lighting question
Too late. LOL
But, I still have a good 10+ feet of lighting in case I ever want to redesign! (Not going to go so far as to say this was "easy." )

 Re: Floor lighting question
those work very well. no problems with mine after a year. took a dab of gorilla glue to the back of the connectors to keep them stable to the boat.

 Re: Floor lighting question
I had a few southern lite led kick lights in my old boat and just the pair lit up the entire floor and you barely notice them. Things are smaller than a quarter and are just as or brighter than any led strip light with 10x the durability http://www.southernliteled.com/mini-kicks-pair/

 Re: Floor lighting question
Well must say happy with the lights I am having problems with some of the sticking. I tried using silicon adhesive at first and that's the only place I'm have troubleZ open to suggestions considering using some spray adhesive.
