 backwater bearings size
The shaft worked up through the ujoint and the back prop nut went into the bearing housing tearing out the seal and grinding on a bearing. I don't want to wait for an order from backwater. I got hunting to do. Anyone know the bearing dimensions? I'm assuming they are standard. I can get bearings and seals from my local napa if i give them a size. Help would be surely appreciated !! It's the weld on rear housing. What a bunch of squeeling, grinding, and vibration! I thought the universal was going out at the time.

 Re: backwater bearings size
Call and ask backwater the bearing dimensions. They'll probably tell you.
It's simple. get a mud motor. shoot ducks in the face.

 Re: backwater bearings size
Do you have a Backwater frame or just their bearing set up? Can you please post a picture of what happened? Thanks.

 Re: backwater bearings size
I really can't imagine how the prop nut got to the bearing. Once again, please post pics if you don't mind.

 Re: backwater bearings size
I'll have one of my boys post pics as soon as I can. My phone doesn't send pictures for some reason. I didn't know they overnighted stuff. great. I've been putting a shift kit in the truck the last 2 days. Yanking bearings tommorrow if it don't rain. And not a BW frame. Bog Hog tube and shaft.

 Re: backwater bearings size
You're saying the first prop nut tore up the bearing housing cap and then wrecked the seals and bearings?

 Re: backwater bearings size
I'm pretty sure that your Bog Hog has bronze bushings. If there is not much play in the shaft, you should be ok with just replacing the seal for now.

 Re: backwater bearings size
I'm sorry I didn't clarify.. Bog hog with the old style Backwater weld on bearing housing kit. No tapered ends on the old style. And I beefed the frame up with struts on the top and 2 sides, and a few gussets. Shaft is out. Crap! Grooved out where the bearings rode. Hafta build them up and take the shaft to a machine shop. After I get the seized prop off so I can slide the housing off. Wondering now why I didn't go with the Bog Hog bronze bushings instead of going with the bearing route. Not knocking BackH2o. Heavy duty stuff. It would have just been a heck of an easier, cheaper fix! Puddle jumping now. Pictures will be coming.
