Post Grab bar/handle
So I have gone for nearly three decades without a grab bar when driving my longtail, but I would like to employ something that could attach to the gunwale channel on my grizzly. I don't want some dang pole on the floor to slam against or anything that costs more than say 50$. MB made one years ago but it was $125- too much- but ideal because it folded down out of the way when you are hunting.
Right now my "grab bar" is my ballast cooler on the front deck for after the hunt.

DSCF2446.JPGCheck out the excel grab bar folds down and has three positions. Have one mounted on the gunnel of my alweld and love it. bit more money I think 100.00 but any fab guy should be able to copy.

Excel grab bars are $200. And the local fabricator quoted me $125 to build me a copy of it to mount on my boat (that was a couple of years ago).. For 50 bucks your best bet is probably just some 1 1/2" threaded pipe/ 45 degree elbow, and a floor flange.. Should be able to do that for $30 or so.

Ok, thanks! At least I have an open floor plan and always put some foam seats in front of me in case I fall forward. I will have to fab something myself.

Raul,
This one works well for me...not sure if your Grizzley has a middle seat though.

Thanks, Bayport! I do not have a middle bench seat, but now you've given me an idea to use a similar support on the gunwale track, and make the handle part removable with some hitch/cotter pins. Good idea that harness for electronics (GPS) as well.

Thank you! I almost bought it ten years ago when it was $125, now it is $200. Need that money for shells.

Here is how I built mine for a few dollars worth of scrap metal. I just took a piece of channel that would fit over the rib and bolted thru the sides of the rib and welded a piece of 1 1/4" sq tubing on the front. Then built the grab bar and just slide it in the tubing. I put a jam nut on the back to keep it from rattling

Would most of yall recommend welding it to the gunnel wall to where it can be removed when needed and put in with ease. or would something permanent be better.

I like to have mine removable for going under trees and bridges also it works great on the side as it does not take up floor space.
