I have an electricity question

So one of my led strips is really dim.


The other is bright like it's supposed to be

Did that one strip go bad?
They are wired parralel together so they run off the same switch. Both were working last weekend. We did get rain and my boat was outside. I assume a waterproof led would be okay. But could this be water damage? I'm not sure how these led lights work, but using the little knowledge I have, the electricity going to that strip is experiencing resistance. I don't know where. I checked the wiring for shorts, the wiring is fine

Thank you for the input. But i don think its the connections. I wiggled the connection and it didn't make a difference, i unplugged/replugged. All the connections are heat shrink fittings, so I'm confused.
To add to it, both lights are on the same connection, and the other light works. That circuit has a 10 amp breaker and the lights only draw 2 amps a piece
I guess I'll just have to get the fluke out and see how many ohms the good strip has compared to the dim one. If the dim strip has considerable difference in ohms then I can pretty much assume it's junk. Anyone else have an idea that is a simpler explanation?

It could be something inside the beginning of the strip, i used a few of these and they did the same thing but further down the strip

Well if I bought shitty lights atleast they were only 5 bucks a piece. They seemed halfway decent to me but hell what do I know about electronics:D

Most of these smd leds should wired no longer than 5 meters otherwise there might not be enough current to power the extra length.

If your current setup is wired in series try wire them parallel and see if it cure the problem.

Recently installed a total of about 30' of led strips on my other boat and I have to wire some sections in parallel to avoid that problem.

The strips are about a foot less than 5 meters. All the lights in the dim one are on. Just dim. The same dimness
If I did wore the sections themselves in parralel. I'd need a soldering gun wouldn't it?

I had a set do the same thing except 1/4 of the strip at the end was dim not whole strip. Trashed em and got a new strip and no issues since.

Connect the bright side leads to the weak side to see if its in the strip or the feed.

It's the same lead for both sides. Only thing I can do is cut the connection and test them out individually. They are ran on the same breaker/and circuit.

That's a rough diagram each side obviously has two wire. So to write it out....both -'s and +'s are wired into one wire. So there are two negatives wired together and two positive wire together. One + goes to the panel and one - goes to the negative

I had the exact same problem myself. I ordered new ones, they are pretty cheap. But in the process of checking them after the new ones came in I discovered if I ran a new ground to the strip instead of off my switch they worked perfect again. Don't know if this will help but It did for me.

I'd try wiring them straight to the battery just eliminate any connection issues. Really interested in the fix since I just installed mine

I have seen many here choose green as interior light color besides easier on the eyes any reasons behind it over white or amber?

It looks cool, I chose red because they're not supposed to attract bugs as bad. Green def looks cooler than red

I have white on my family boat and you guys are right as its not as easy on the eyes and while thinking of redo my duck boat this coming winter and looking for ideas and thinking of warm white or amber but the green catch my eyes and attract less bugs is a very valid point.

One of my LED trailer marker lights did this same thing right before it took a dump ...

Amber is a bright light source aswell, dimmer than white but will affect night vision. Red and green have proved to be night vision friendly.
