I see. And what are the disadvantages and advantages of those flotation pods on the back? Can they be put on any boat? I guess they help with stability? Do they hurt anything?

Pods suck. Gimmick solution for choosing the wrong hull and many times cause more issues than they solve. Horrible option if you run, or plan to run, a surface drive.

Research is good - but getting a test ride is much better...

Ask about members in southeast Missouri who might take you for a test ride.

Honestly, if you can't afford to get the right gear you are pissing your money away. Go Devil has the most affordable packages out there. If you want all those things for 5k you are buying someone's junk PERIOD! Run a long tail rig until you get a real job. Then before you get someone pregnant or buy a damn ring go get your boat. You can get a new 10k new rig with a long tail. Believe me. You will eventually run over stumps and logs. If you can't afford $150 to $200/month for a good rig you should keep hunting with your friend.

Do you guys think its best to buy a hull, then a motor or get both as a packaged. Talking about buying used.

You can always just do like me. Find a rig you like for cheap and run it a while. Figure out your likes and dislikes of your rig and go from there to figure out what you want out of a boat on your next rig. I bought a used rig before I forked out a good chunk of change ( not saying to go buy a barge or spend a lot on a boat like me ) . Plus this will give you the oportunity to learn more about mud boats and what you want. Good luck on finding a rig.

i bet a few weeks after your purchase you will want a different , newer or better rig lol . I actually sold my last rig more then I bought it for. I got at a great price . I sold it for 1k more then I purchased it for even including the mods. I learned off of it. When I was ready financially and knew what I wanted I sold and had a custom built.
