 Should I make the change???
I currently have a 16' jon boat. It is a flat bottom with a slightly pointed bow. I have a 27hp longtail on it right now but I fish, duck hunt, and trap out of it. It does just fine but would really like reverse. I keep looking for a used motor and really like the gatortails. I found a couple 35hp and a 23hp. Just curious on what you guys think of something like that on my boat. Am I going to gain or lose performance? I would prefer the 23hp when it comes to price but maybe that isn't enough power?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Should I make the change???
I'd be worried that if u got a 23hp u'd wish u went bigger. Every one thinks "oh a 23 will be fine" but take it from someone with a 16ft Jon boat and a 23hp mbsd....... Bigger is better! Buy the 35 the first time and be done with it! Imo

Re: Should I make the change???
Im running a 31 GT on a 1648 tin can john boat. The weights are comparable to a 35. I reinforced the transom and it handles the motor very well. Its a 1989 model boat.
