 Prodigy Boats
I am in the market of buying a mud boat / motor combo and when dealing with Prodigy I had a less than ideal customer service issue with them.
Timeliness of the return phone call was a week after first calling them inquiring about one of their boats. After talking to a salesmen for a short period I felt rushed off the phone and then received text messages instead of a phone call back. I think technology is great that we can text back and forth over details but when I am trying to buy a boat from a company if I cant meet you in person due to distance at least talk to me verbally over the phone.
I understand that I am sure they have plenty of business and people standing in line for their boats and hats off to them but if I am going to be buying a $25K dollar boat I do not want to be treated like just another number or a person in line.
The experience I had definitely did not settle very well with me, the thought of investing in something that is made so was so far away made me nervous if I was going to be treated like this up front.
Chad, if you are trying to improve your business like you say you are then try and improve on customer service because everything else seems pretty flawless.

 Re: Prodigy Boats
So did you ask to speak with someone higher up to explain your discontent. I'm sure if you would have the issue would have been addressed. You do have to realize how many people call about boats, just to waist time kicking tires. Now, I have not heard or ever had any trouble with Prodigy. I can also tell you if called and asked to speak with Chad, he himself will go out of his way to make you a happy customer. It seems instead of resolving the problem, you come to bash then online. Does not sound like you choose the direct form of communication on this subject, just as you complained about them texting. Most all of the design process happens when they are building your boat, it is a custom, so therefore that's when all the communication will be going on. Give them a call and ask for Ashley or Chad and maybe explain your experience so they can rectify the situation.

 Re: Prodigy Boats
I actually think this was a rather constructive complaint. I know we often have people that run to the forum to whine and complain about this or that but I believe that compared to the rest, this experience was conveyed pretty well. I agree that there probably should have been another attempt to maybe talk to Chad or Ashley directly but, I also agree that people should not have to go straight to the ownership of a company (any company) to be treated right. There are a ton of tire kickers I'm sure, but that's the business they have chosen to be in. Legitimate potential customers (or tire kickers for that matter) shouldn't have to be treated like a nuisance just because they have to deal with so many.
OP, I hope you find the right boat and company for you. Prodigy makes a great product but they've blown up over the past couple years and I'm sure there are a certain amount of growing pains that come along with that.

 Re: Prodigy Boats
I apologize for any issues you may have encountered sir. We are trying to ramp up to manage incoming requests from so many places better. If you are from Chicago I believe you had a trade were not interested in taking and I hope you found a home for it and end up happy with the boat you purchase. If we can ever help you please let us know. Regards Chad

 Re: Prodigy Boats
I personally would steer clear of Prodigy.
Boats are built really tough but are far heavier than equal sized hulls from other builders/manufacturers, which results in a serious lack of performance.

 Re: Prodigy Boats
That's not exactly accurate, craig. It's heavier than some, lighter than others. When comparing mine to other 1748 boats with same hull thickness and hunt deck, with a half box, gun box, and extended deck, it was significantly lighter than similar gatortrax (was a 17.5 gtrax), similar to a gatortail, lighter than excel, and couldn't get a weight from a couple other custom builders, one actually said he didn't know for a boat that size.
By all means, buy what you'd like for your reasons, and state your opinion of others.

 Re: Prodigy Boats
Mine performs well I think with a 1851 4400hdr. 30mph light 27/28 with 3 big guys ,3 or 4 dozens decoys, and gear. Mine load pretty well with option s to. I want a heavy built cuss I run timber , open water, shallow hard bottom flats, and rocks.

 Re: Prodigy Boats
there are many factors which contribute to total weight etc. I have a 1854 Elite in LA right now running 25 with 4 grown men and a HDR44....... when u use hat channel or lighter bracing the boat will be a few lbs lighter but it will also have other issues
We also have more stringers in our boats standard than others do....... we can always sell one w less if u want it as light as possible.... we can also use hat channel............it is about what folks want to do
If u want a light weight boat we can do that too.........most of our customers are worried about the boat lasting and the boat being tough and not being 12lbs lighter than another boat.....
hope that ramble make sense....... to each his own...........

 Re: Prodigy Boats
I personally had a great experience with prodigy. Called me back within minutes and they were super helpful and friendly. I love the work they do and the customer service. In their defense they don't always have time to sit on the phone and chit chat. Just easier to put down in word what you want or have questions about. Even though it's texting I'm pretty sure telegram AKA texting is pretty old school. I prefer it to be honost. The only reason I decided not to go with them is because I wanted a builder a lil closer. What is your location ?

Its funny how people change their opinions on boats to try and win an argument on the internet.

 Re: Prodigy Boats
speed aint everything guys......i can make u all the boats u want that will run as fast or faster than any other.............many of our customers like catwalks and other things in their boat... a 1846 w no catwalks, no deck hatch and no rear box just a open boat of course it will run faster. also the bracing gt uses is diff than 1x2's and is lighter... i can do that also if we wanted to.
i am not trying to argue just get a lil ruffled when folks make blanket statements and possibly taint folks w information that is not entirely accurate. if u love what u got roll on.................. Merry Christmas to all!!
