 Re: Excel boat
A month or 2. Maybe GG would make it last longer. But if anything hits the bondo directly like a stump. It's done
It's simple. get a mud motor. shoot ducks in the face.

 Re: Excel boat
Gary runs an area where he hits more stumps in a morning than most do all year. Like i said, i don't think he used bondo.

 Re: Excel boat
They also make aluminum specific filler that we use on airplanes. It's harder and more dense

 Re: Excel boat
Don't know, I ordered some on ebay. I haven't used it extensively but it gets extremely hard. Bondo would be a waste of your time

 Re: Excel boat
Bet you havn't got $20k wrapped up in it. I've got hundreds of hrs on mine and its still straight as it was when I bought it. And I'm running a BB MB BD 4500. It blows the doors off every custom mud hull I've came across. Including my sons 1851 Excell with MB 7000. I'll take lite and cheap over heavy expensive slow custom mud hulls anytime.

 Re: Excel boat
Not sure who told you an excel is a "custom mud hull", but they lied. General consensus is that they are turds so congratulations for re-establishing that well known fact.

 Re: Excel boat
Y'all talk about all y'alls ratings and what not. If you get a homemade hull there are no rating on weight or motor size.

 Re: Excel boat
This was a 30 MPH boat with stock carb and headwork. An old style Excel MW edition- a victim of the North Texas stump fields.
I used the fairing compound on the deep hooks and applied steelflex over top of it. I would recommend Gator Glide or equivalent like Wetlander. If they aren't deep hooks then just apply the coating product thicker in those spots to smooth it out some. It may give some significant performance gain if it fills hooks at the transom right in front of the prop under the motor.

 Re: Excel boat
Excel Boat Live-Well Install,,,,,, I am pursuing installation of a live-well in my Excel 1751 f4. The plant has been un-helpful in this endeavor after making 3 or 4 phone calls to them, promising to send me pictures of where the holes are drilled in the storage box. Has anyone accomplished an 'after-market' installation of a live-well/
