 New GT 2 blade
Can anyone tell me a bit more about this new style GT 2 blade prop? I could only find a handfull of info about it and not much was usefull...Just called GT and ordered a 2 blade and they said they had a new bigger version of it and that they didn't sell the old style anymore..? Just the three blade and this new bigger 2 blade. Finally decided to order one, having to clear the prop from grass in reverse every 10ft got old.

 Re: New GT 2 blade
It's a 12.5/10p hammer prop. It's not a speed prop but that sucker will hold a good speed with a load

Well that's good. I should be able to load up 15 people now now and not loose any speed at all

A hammer prop. Like Zeek said Its a touch slower than the Powertech, But carries a Damn good load.

 Re: New GT 2 blade
I like the powertech 2 blade much more than the 3 blade. My buddy just sent his GT Big blade back to Gatortail. He was very disappointed in the performance. He lost 5mph loaded and unloaded. He went back to his beat up powertech.

 Re: New GT 2 blade
That is very unfortunate. I absolutely hate the 3 blade is just got. My 4 year old wore slap out powertech performs better in my opinion. Getting ready to put it back on and just have the 3 blade as a backup I guess.

If you like the older style 2 blade, Get a Big blade from mud Buddy.

 Re: New GT 2 blade
Next week I'll be installing my heads and carb I am getting from Calen. I hope I see a little more performance out of the 3 blade. My buddy has those same mods on his boat and was a dog when he put the new GT 2 blade on it. My stock boat out performed it. Now that he put his old blade back on I can't touch his boat.

 Re: New GT 2 blade
I don't see why gator tail would switch to only 1 two blade prop that dosent perform well on their motors..that just don't make sense. Well see how it does on a stock efi and I'll report back with some info.

 Re: New GT 2 blade
How's this new GT 2 blade run in the mud and veggies compared to the old GT two blade? Is it more comparable to the MB hammer prop in those areas?

 Re: New GT 2 blade
I talked to a popular mudmotor mechanic/dealer earlier today and he said the mud buddy big blade is the best performing prop for the GTR in his opinion.

 Re: New GT 2 blade
I have to agree, the big blade does do well on a GTR. Mine don't get up quite as fast in the mud but it does fine.

 New GT 2 blade
So your saying that the MB big blade will out run the 3 blade GT that came stock on my motor. If so is I'll order one

 Re: New GT 2 blade
I have never tried a 3 blade, but everybody that i know has tried one has went back to the 2 blade. The guy at boat dr recommended the big blade over the hammer for the GTR.

 Re: New GT 2 blade
Keep gear ratio in mind when dealing with this....
The big blade is fine on a stock or lightly modified GTR. You will need to add cup and/or pitch once you go past that point.
The big blade is impressive...Has a little more slip on the bottom end then I care for, but cup can fix that.
In stock form, with only about 1-2'' of the tip of the top blade out the water to keep me off the limiter it was running 33/34 on my 18/54CC. Its also a very smooth prop...
The GTR "Big blade" can match this but takes some work.

 Re: New GT 2 blade
On my stock 37 the 3 blade 11p was a solid 30, big blade was 28-29. But with any weight bb was faster. BB out performed 3 blade in the usual( mud, grass, float) I'll get the 3 blade polished and use it as a fishibg prop in summer. I've yet to run the new gt 2 blade but will in the future.

 Re: New GT 2 blade
The tiller torque on my setup was almost fatal with the 3 blade. It's much much better now with a big blade. Top end's about the same, and it seems like better hole shot too, at least the boat will get up over hard bottom better.

 Re: New GT 2 blade
Well maybe I do due to the fact that I haven't had any ride time with a veteran mud boater I only assume I'm running the boat at the proper trim I run it just like my OB trim up till it starts to slip and bump it back down. If it's to high when taking off it does pull like a stuck pig till I trim down

 Re: New GT 2 blade
Ran it this morning. Even with that 10pitch I still give that rev limiter a love tap when I turn. Best speed I could get out of it was 26mph at 4500rpm. Dont see it being to suitable for me summer rideing but i have a feeling ill love it for huntin seaso. The hole shot damn near threw me out a the boat and that thing backs up like a truck in some lillys. I was testing it out and I was able to back up a good 50-60 yards no problem where the 3 blade I was only able to make it about 2 feet...a huge noticeable difference in tiller torque to. That sob is huge to, It made a big blade look tiny and my old 3 blade look like a toy. I stayed in the river where the lilys are so didn't try anything in mud but well give that a shot Sunday.

Any reputable prop shop can put quite a bit of speed in it with no ill effects!
I know of one running 35/36 empty right now.
