Well after a harsh slide off in early January I have began to rebuild my trailer. Turning it into insurance was not a good idea since the $250 deductible would be more than I currently have in the trailer after this rebuild. I was able to get a lot of parts free thanks to some friends.

Trailer is a Yacht Club with two bunks. Here is the setup before (wrecked) and a few pictures going forward. Just waiting to cut up some UMHW to go on the bunks, then load the boat, and adjust the side guides.
I used Uni Strut braced down to the original crossmembers to beef up the trailer and add more corssmembers. In doing this and not using the bunk mounts that came with the trailer, I was able to lower my bunks about 1.5"

Dang that looks good. I had my old Godevil on a v-hull trailer but I just raised my middle bunks higher. Didn't think about adding cross members.
What exactly happened to break it?

We were leaving from hunting earlier Jan, and was coming down a hill to a T on solid ice. Wrecked the best way we could. I didnt really have to add the cross members cause the only this that really broke was a bunk mount and the winch stand/bow stop, but wanted 4 bunks and figured more support on them the better. Old setup was 2- 8ft 2x4's. New setup is 4- 10ft 2x4's.

Got the UHMW/Nylon on the bunks tonight. A special thanks to cr244 for the material.

Sweet job, but won't the hiway dept be upset about the missing stop sign post? Do you put on side bunks or are the fenders enough to square things up?

That's uni strut not a sign post. I still need to get the side guides on and adjusted. I'll do that after I get the boat on.

I already had the unistrut, but I'm pretty sure Lowe's and home Depot carry it. The bunks are attached to the unistrut with galvanized lag screws and washers from underneath.

Update:

I noticed during this summer that the plastic on the bunks was washboarding/wavy pattern when trailer was empty sitting out in the heat at ramps. This weekend we launched the boat and added more screws between where the originals were. Other than that, trailer seems to tow better, takes less to launch boat...etc.

Where can one get some of that UMHW in strips? I know of a tank of a bass boat that could benefit from those.

Noticed that the center bunk arent really touching the hull (mine is a 2009 and has seen a lot of use/abuse). Will be moving the two center bunks toward the center to allow the longitudinal runners of the boat to rest on them.
