 Slick Bottom
I'm curious as to what everyone is using? I have steel flex in the bottom of my boat, it's probably two years old. There is significant chipping going on with some areas completely gone. Was wondering if anyone is running or has experience with Wetlander?

 Re: Slick Bottom
I have Wetlander. I don't personally know anyone with gatorglide to compare it to, but I really like the wetlander. It's really slick. It's nothing spectacular in mud, but thick veggies are nothing compared to it. Same thing with running skinny canals with high water, if you hit one side, you'll slide right off every time. After this season I'll try gatorglide though just to see if I do prefer one over the other. Just my .02

 Re: Slick Bottom
I've had gator glide for a season and so far the stuff is awesome. I prefer it over everything else and there are many choices down here in Florida to choose from . I've tried them all running airboats and so far I like the gator glide. I did put down the base though.

 Re: Slick Bottom
My steelflex is five years old and only now is showing wear, which means a recoat this year. A lot depends on where you run...sand, gravel, and rocks will cut into it and the others, similar to prop wear.

 Re: Slick Bottom
I'm thinking about going with gator glide on the bottom of my 14x50 aluminum sneak boat. The bottom was painted with Parker's duck boat paint 2 years ago. I'm sure there are some spots of bare aluminum showing.
So, do I need to sand all the paint off the bottom of the boat and put down the base and then the G2?

 Re: Slick Bottom
Thank you for the reply. Thinking about it more, I would rather do it right the first time rather than redo it down the road. Sounds like it is time ahead if I go ahead and strip the paint off the bottom and go the GatorBase then GG route. We pull these boats over gravel-topped levees on occasion, and I want to make sure I have the best adhesion possible for the GG.

 Re: Slick Bottom
my old skiff has had several coats of steelflex over the years. i even put the filler they sell on it one year to fill in some hooks. i hadn't fooled with redoing the bottom in 3 or 4 years. some of it is bare metal, some is steelflex, some is the steelflex filler. it has places where the steelflex was close to 1/2'' thick that is just jagged edges. i can probly remove some of the loose stuff with a screwdriver and a hammer. thinking of putting some gator glide on it to helpout in the lillies. looks easier to apply than steelflex, and i've heard good things about it, nothing bad.
i started running one of those 2 to 1 lower units on my pd a couple weeks ago. it's a beast in the lillies. but i can still feel the hull hangup on every little thing. Frog, does the gator base just roll on like the G2? if not i'm just gonna roll on the G2. i'm prettysure i can get it local at pd or gt.
and one more question, if i flip the boat, can i just fill in the hooks with the g2 or should i use the base and then the g2. it's gonna take a few gallons to do my boat. it be hook-ed bad. lol
