Post Clear Coat on Boat
I have Chad building me a new Prodigy 1854 and am going back and forth whether I should have the boat clear coated or not. I will be running this in Wisconsin and will be busting some ice here and there. I need to let him know ASAP. Any input would be appreciated.

Yea my main concern is probably the ice up here. I would really like to get a clear coat on the boat but am concerned about ease of touch up. Does the clear coat flake off when it is scratched up? This is my first mud boat so please bear with my ignorance.

Mine hasn't. Seems to be holding up well.

How much more is it for clear?

Don't have a firm price from him yet but I think it will be close to 800 - 1k for the boat and painted parts on the motor.

I have it on my PD and it has been fairly durable, looks good, and makes the boat easier to clean (I'm a fanatic with my stuff). With that being said, I don't deal with ice in South LA. If you are planning to hunt out of the boat (boat blind) I don't know if the clear coat would possibly shine in any kind of way that would flare birds??? For what I use it for, which is everything other than duck hunting out of it, I would definitely get it again.
