Having owned a Cottonmouth boat, I will say that while this new pad design was a serious design screw-up, the build quality on Corey's boats is second to none. He is at OCD and pays attention to details building a really high quality boat. With that said, he needs test more before dropping new designs on the unsuspecting public, and stand behind them but if he will do that, I would put his boats against anything out there. This pad design did not work, but Corey has had some good ideas that have worked out well. This could have ended much differently. I for one had paid for hydroturf installed, but took the pre-cut hydroturf when I took the boat to get painted and never made it back to have him install it because I was too busy with a house move. When I did try to call and email multiple times over a years time because one of the pre-cut pieces of hydroturf had been cut wrong/upside down (I was installing it myself even though I had paid to have it put in), I never could get a callback, answered phone call, or answered email just to get a little bitty 6 inch wide piece of hydroturf replaced that had been cut wrong. The boat itself is a work of art, but they need to stand behind what they build. If Cottonmouth will start doing that, then I would have no problem buying another boat from them.

I am glad he is trying to innovate. It was the innovators who gave us surface drives and mud motors to start with, they didn't start as a division of a large manufacturer like Mercury or Evinrude. I have seen other screwed up boat designs from top tier boat manufacturers who build more boats than all the builders on this site as well as screwed up mud motor designs. What is important is that Cottonmouth still builds a great boat, they just need to start standing behind their products if they are going to try out new designs.
