Post boat trailer bunks
Need new bunks, used pressure treated last time, one is very soft, not so good for 4 years. Would like to use composite or plastic and be done with it! Any recommendations for sources? Is the material at Home Depot any good or is it chit? Have steelflex on my jon boat bottom, would like to go without carpeted bunks. Thank you!

I am actually in the process of swapping mine right now, got my 2x6x12s (x4) mounted last night, untreated, going to top with gator glide.

before this, the trailer was built using 1x6x12 treated decking boards and I added the PVC boards from Lowe's on top. Did not really like that, even between both, the boards began to sag between trailer braces.

It acts as an abrasive and will wear the GG off the aluminum going down the road.

How is plastic any different than GG for holding moisture against the boat?

I am pretty sure it holds water BETWEEN the plastic and wood. Therefore enhancing rotting capabilities, whereas GG is applied as a sealer and slick fucking coating to the top of the wooden bunks.

not for longevity, rather trying to keep those chemicals from eating up aluminum

Yeah, I used green treated wood and then put the plastic pads over top so the boat doesn't touch the green treat. Seems to work pretty good and should last.
