Anyone have any good ideas on how to fix a hook in the rear of the hull? It's about a 3/8" hook at its worst and spans about 20" basically from the transom to the first brace. I need some sort of jacking system to hold it once it's pushed out. Thanks in advance for any help.

see that brace that goes across the floor of the boat and up the sides? have somebody put another one halfway between the transom and the first brace, press the floor flat and weld it in.

it will probly just hook again between the transom and new brace over time.

make sure your trailer boards stick out past your hull when on the trailer. driving down the road will hook a boat quicker than anything.

first thing i'd try is to get a big rubber hammer and beat the sheet out of it and see if you can get the hook out. without adding a brace it will come right back.

There was a thread not too long ago on here talking about using a bottle jack in some way shape form or fashion. I came up empty when I glanced back trying to find the thread though. Maybe someone else can find it

That was bandedmallard when he got hauled in by another boat in rough chop, it trashed the bottom of his and he fixed it.

I can't find it but he put an I beam or something solid under it, then put another beam on top across the boat, ratchet strapped those two together, then placed a bottle jack between the two.

Some good hook discussion with the bottle jack method from banded mallard in there.

google ' boat hull jack'. I have them in my airboat. might have to get creative with that crimped floor.

The first was to remove a hook in the back.



This one is when the guy who pulled me in destroyed all my bracing and I had to redo.



If you read, by placing a "strong back" under the hull and then across the gunnel, you basically sandwich the hull. The bottle jack presses the floor back true to the strong back under the hull. This is where I would add another cross brace. By doing it this way, you insure the floor is flat before welding the brace in place. Any other way, and you install the brace with an uneven floor.

Start at the front, bottle jack the ribs flat and weld. Move it back about 8", repeat. Took a while, but I did it with the motor still on hull and hull on the trailer.

Correct, it will do that. That's why I mentioned to hold pressure on it while welding it in. Cut the brace to length and use the brace to push the floor down. That way its already in place where you want it and weld it up.
