Looking to buy- G3 1652 with 35 HP Prodrive-
I'm looking hard at a 2007 model G3 1652 DK with a 35 HP Prodrive (Vanguard). The seller says it's in near perfect shape, with no dings, dents in the bottom, or anywhere else for that matter. Motor has 67 hours on it. He's asking around 11K for it. Nada doesn't show the Prodrive, so I can't get a decent estimated value on it. Would this be a decent rig! I'm completely new to boating and quite frankly, I don't wanna get screwed on my first purchase. Boat/hull specs are here: http://www.dockside-marine.com/new_vehi ... 9&CatDesc=

That seems pretty high. There are a couple prodrives on here that are matched with prodrive boats for cheaper than that right now. They will have more hours but if maintained properly they will last a long time. You are not going to get the same performance out of that g3 that you will with the prodrive hull. I would pass, especially if the motor is an 07 also.

One thing to keep in mind when buying a used motor that sometimes seems to good to be true, remember changing a tach is very simple and cheap. Not saying it isn't possible but 67 hours for a 07 is really low.

Thanks for all the input. I'm currently on the road to look at a 1654 GD with a 35 GDSD. The G3 is still on my list, but I kinda felt the price was high. Good to get confirmation.

The g3 should be removed from the list.

That is an outboard hull with a mudmotor on it.
There is a HUGE difference between a mudmotor hull and a outboard hull.
AND that is way overpriced to boot.
Remove from list and run as fast as you can from that deal.

Re: Looking to buy- G3 1652 with 35 HP Prodrive-
Got it! G3 is off the list. I really liked the 1654 GDSD with the 35hp SD motor I looked at today. Three years old, 109 hours on the tach, bottom is in good condition. Bare boat/trailer and motor for 7.5K. The new one I priced earlier this week at the dealership was 14,200 plus sales tax. NADA puts the 2013 GDSD at 10,800 suggested retail, 7,600 low retail and 8,650 for average retail. Everything else I've looked at in that age/size has been a lot higher, BUT, they've also had mud buddy or Gator Tail motors on them. I believe I'm gonna go for the Go Devil. I know I'll likely want reverse, power trim and the newest hull later, but for the time being, it'll get me on the bayou and I'll learn as I go. And I won't have to take out a second mortgage to pay for it! Thanks for everyone's replies on the G3. It is officially off the list.
