 Mud buddy HDR and boat
I'm currently looking into a new motor for my boat. Looking to get either 37 mud buddy HDR or GTR. My boat was originally custom built for a gtr, 20" transom with the angle degree GTR calls for. 17x48, I had a 08 gtr on it sold it with intentions on getting something brand new. I drove my buddy's Hdr and I liked it more than my gatortail. I am wondering if the HDR will perform as good on my boat as the gtr did considering the way my boat is built. Does mud buddy call for certain specs on the boat like gator tail does? Also stock for stock, same boat both motors should run about the same speed? Thanks for any input!

Re: Mud buddy HDR and boat
Mud buddy has a 15* (or poss. 16) transom angle, vs gtr having a 20*. Probably won't make a big difference, but there will be a difference.

Should be able to trim up enough. If not, the mount can be shimmed without harming anything. Just make sure you get the tall transom model since it's 20".

Alright thanks guys sounds good, I just wanted to make sure it would run okay. So the tall transom HDR is good for 20" transom

Re: Mud buddy HDR and boat
Yes. I think the typical measurement for MudBuddy might be 21", but don't quote me.

Yes if you decide to go with a MB youll be fine. These GTR guys aren't used to be able to trim up or down as high, thus being transom angle is very important Get the HDR, you wont regret it. I know MB sells a shim if need be, and Im also sure GT does as well.

I've been running 19" transom height at 19 degrees with the new HDR. (perfect)
