I'm new to the site so take it easy on me.
I'm needing some help with a problem I've run into. I have an older 27hp long tail. I decided to replace the lower bearings and just went ahead a bought a new lower housing as they come with the bearings already pressed and very thing assembled. Well when putting the prop back on I can't seem to get it to stay torqued. I've tighted the back jam but against the prop as tight as I could. I made sure to leave a gap between the back jam nut and the spacer against the housing. I've tightend the prob against the jam nut. Then tighted the other jam nut tight as possible and the locking nut as tight as possible. Every time I start and run it for no more than 20 seconds at idle the back jam nut comes loose and pushes the spacer against the bearing housing. I've tried everything. If anyone's ever ran into this problem or might have any suggestion that would be awesome! Just tryin to get back out and find me some teal!

Not sure of your year, but the beaver tails I've seen have a nylon or polymer spacer between the jam nut and housing...I'm not positive but I think they have sat against the housing . I run a godevil myself, which has the jam nut all the way to the end of the threads then you back the prop off about 1/4 turn that way if you hit a submerged object it has some play. maybe some beavertail people will chime in soon.
