Any one ever take the split seats out of a go devil boat for a open floor plan?

I saw someone do it on here but I would brace it afterwards like a prodrive or gator trax is braced don't just cut them out and have nothing up the sides

Well I got the seats out know I know why not alot of people do it because they really weld every spot possible. My plan is to put one bar on each side down to the first runner and weld square tube in between the runners. Good or bad idea?

I left the corners in mine. Holds the sides and transom together. Or if you cut it all out just get you some square aluminum tubeing and weld in a brace.
And yes those welds are a pain in the ass. I spent a whole week grinding down welds. Hell there's still a few I never did because I got tired of screwing with it

JMO and because of how I use my 1856. I would never give up my split seats! I use my boxes for carrying the Coast Guard crap, tools, life jackets, fish finder (when not need), wiring diagrams, extra box of shells etc. Not to mention the option of moving a seat to port or starboard. The structural part to me is just as important as the storage.

 Re: go devil boat remodle
Cut the middle split seats out and the back monster seats and moved the split seats back so I have storage still and moved gun boxes back debating if I want to cut the transom and make a hunt deck since I have gone this far

Now would also be the time to get rid of any dents and I'd consider putting in a few more stringers. Looks like you have an earlier model hull there.
